Katherine's POV:
I could already sense the danger in the air. Vampires were getting a bit too tipsy so, I decided it was time to get myself upstairs.
I walked towards the stairs, but before I could move a single step, a cold hand caught my wrist. I turned around, it was Lailah.
I breathed a sigh of relief, "Why so much rush Kate? Enjoy with us...come."
"Well...I better go up, the queen wanted me up, before any of you attacked me." I chuckled.
She let go off my hand. "Oh..yeah. Maybe you should. You will be safer upstairs."
I walked towards my room. But, something stopped me. I noise of constant shuffling, from Scott's room.
For a moment I hesitated going in. Maybe he was with some girl again. I could hear ocassional low growls, almost like someone was in pain.
I walked in, slowly. As my eyes adjusted to the dim light of the candles and a bit of the moonlight, I was quiet taken aback.
On the bed lay Scott. Totally dishevelled, tossing and turning in his bed.
"What are you doing here?" He growled, but it sounded more like an angry whisper.
"Came to check on you. You don't seem too well. What happened? Are you hurt?" I tried my best to mask the panick in my voice.
"None of your fucking business. So get your ass out of here."
With every word he sounded more tired. As if he was giving up on something.
"Aarghhhh..." He let out a shrill cry, as an unknown pain hit him.
I didn't know why, but I walked over to him. Sitting down beside him, I placed my hand, where his heart would be, if he had one.
"What is it, that's hurting you? What do you need?" I almost pleaded him to response. I wanted to help him anyhow.
For a moment I saw a flicker of emotions in his eyes. I couldn't put my finger on the one he was trying to hide.
I opened the drawers beside his bed, one by one. I wasn't sure what I was looking for. But I found a pocket knife in the last one.
I picked it up, and drove it into my forearm, quiet hastily, making a deep cut.
As if on que, Scott's eyes flew open, concentrating on my bleeding forearm.
His head dipped down towards my arm, as he licked the blood, and then hastily began to suck at the wound, as if his life depended on my blood.
After drinking for quiet a while, he stopped abruptly. Looking up at me, his lips were smeared with my blood. He dropped my arm, cleaning his mouth and shifted backwards to rest his body against the headpost of his bed.
He stared at me for what seemed like eternity.
"Why did you do that?" He questioned.
"I don't really know. I felt like it was the best thing to do." I mumbled and looked away.
I wondered why I had helped him.
"Well...why were you in pain? Are you hurt?" I stared at him, waiting for an answer.
"No...its my fate. I knew it would happen." He fiddled with the hem of his tux suit, like a child in his principles office.
"Now tell me why did it occur to you, that your blood could help me." He questioned again.
I didn't know what to say, so I stared at the moon that shone through his balcony.
Not sure of what I was about to do, I leaned closer to him. Holding his face between my hands, I kissed his forehead softly, letting my lips linger near his mouth for a few moments, I moved my mouth towards his ear.
"I want you to be safe. No matter what, I will keep you safe."
I moved away from him just enough and stared into his crystal blue eyes. His hands encircled around my waist, as he pulled me lower, and closer to himself.
He stared into my eyes, as if searching for an answer, to an unknown question. I waited for him to close the distance between us.
A few more moments passed, and he let go off me. He looked defeated. "Goodnight Kate. Go and sleep." He pushed me away.
An unknown pain erupted Inside my chest, as I turned away from him, and started to walk away.
Why do you expect him to do it? Because you know you can't..
A small voice spoke, in the back if my head.
I felt anger this time, not pain. I felt rejected, not sad. So, I turned on my heel, Scott sat up, giving me a questioning look.
I stomped over to his bed. Bent lower on him. Grabbed his chin, and pressed my lips against his.
For a moment I let myself enjoy the sweet yet minty taste. His lips were a bit rough on the outer edges, and soft as silk on the inside. Then I moved away, as I felt him starting to return the kiss.
"Goodnight Scott. Go to sleep." Then I gave him the look.
Get me if you can... and I walked away.
