I love you but…
Chapter 4
The night out with Darius was a great one. We went out to eat at Arby’s because, and it’s his logic not mine, I was in a bad mood and their slogan is ‘It’s good mood food.’ Well, there food was horrid. I didn’t even like it, but because Darius was there, it put me in a good mood. After that we went out for ice-cream because we were still hungry. Then we went to an old park we use to play at and goofed off there. After that we went to his house and that is where I am now.
Darius lives alone too, so I stay over sometimes and vice versa. Plus, I didn’t want to go home, that weird guy might be there still.
“Ciao, I found some of your clothes in the guest room.” Darius called from upstairs.
“Okay! I’m coming up!” I called back from the kitchen. I was making us popcorn and grabbing some cokes.
I grabbed the popcorn and threw it into a bowl and then grabbed the pop cans and ran upstairs. I slide on the hardwood floor as I went around the corner into his room. He saw me slide by his door and I heard him sigh.
“You’re an idiot.” He said and I walked into his room.
“You love me.” I teased and set the stuff on his desk and plopped on the bed next to my clothes.
“I suppose.” He said and plopped down beside me.
I poked him and we got into a poking war where it ended with me on the floor, him on top of me, and us laughing till we cried. We calmed down and he looked at me from above, something was wrong.
“L?” I questioned.
“Huh?” Darius said.
Yes we had nicknames. Mine was Ciao because I always said ciao instead of bye when we were kids and his was L because he never could make L’s as a kid and he was always scolded for lying for me so I didn’t get in trouble at school.
“What’s wrong?” I asked and poked his cheek.
“Nothing…” He said and looked away.
“Liar.” I whispered.
“I’m not!” He defended himself.
I raised an eyebrow and gave him, the look. It was a look that I only gave him for lying to me.
“Okay okay! You caught me. I was just thinking about you being gone for a week. You didn’t even call me like you normally do.” He said and rolled off me.
I felt my chest tighten at the mention of that and I rubbed my left arm. It wasn’t like I even knew what happened, and I can’t tell him that a whole week of my life is blank in my head, can I?
“Sorry, I left my cell at home because it was a last minute decision and I forgot.” I said then giggled to convince him.
“I forgive you, I guess.” He said and flicked my forehead.
“Ow!” I whined and held my forehead.
“You deserved it.” He said and smiled.
I smiled back, but the way I felt was purely irritating. I was sick to my stomach trying to remember the week I missed. I tried to think how I got the mark, who that boy was, anything really. It pissed me off to no end and, before I knew it, I was ready to go and hunt that kid down and drag him back here to explain to me what the hell happened.
“CIAO!” L screamed and I turned around.
“Hmm?” I hummed and tilted my head,
“You’re so fidgety! Calm down!” He said, and threw a pillow at me.
It hit me dead in the face and fell onto my lap. I glared at him and threw it back and he ran out the room to avoid it.
“IDIOT!” I screamed and chased after him.
Maybe it’s best I forget. I love this life. I won’t let something change it. I thought as I slide down the railing after Darius.
~The Next Day~
I woke up on the floor, surrounded by the stupid pictures we drew last night. I giggled and grabbed one. Darius was a great artist, unlike me who couldn’t draw better than a child.
The drawing was of me and him. We were sitting under the stars at the park, on the swings, laughing. I could spend hours looking at it, so, I folded it and slipped it into my pocket. I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote:
To L
I left. Sorry, have to go feed Lucky. She’s mad at me already for leaving her alone so long. I stole a picture, thanks! Call me later; you can come over if you want. Also, I want to thank you, last night was fun. (:
From Ciao.
I slide the paper under his cell phone and snuck out the room. I walked down the stairs and slide my boots on. I then stole his hoodie since it was still early, and probably cold. He had enough of these things anyway.
I slide it on and was engulfed in his scent. It smelt like axe and cookies. Damn, he loves cookies. I thought.
I stepped outside and headed home, my heels clacking on the pavement as I made my way towards my house. I felt around his pockets and found a pair of headphones. I plugged them into my iPhone and listened to my music while walking.
My mind wandered to useless things. Like, Darius is really tall. His hoodie reaches my knees. Or something like, what cookies did he eat while wearing this? I just tried to keep my mind occupied so I didn’t have to think about that weird week.
When I got home I stopped at the beginning of my pathway.
“I’ll have to think on my feet. You will remain silent. You will not speak to him. I’ll do the talking.” He said.
“Okay.” I said.
“I need your name. In case he asks for it.” He said.
“Felicia.” I said slowly. “Yours?” I asked.
I backed up slowly. What that was, I couldn’t tell you, but the feeling I got wasn’t something pleasant.
I gritted my teeth. It was from the dream, right? Yeah, so I didn’t have to feel frightened. With my head held high, I walked to my door, and into my house. I slammed the door closed and turned to my right and saw the kid.
“Hello.” He said with a Cheshire cat grin.
