Chapter 5
~Danny~
Lyrics of beginning song, blasting out of the alarm clock, are not owned by me. J
~Right right, turn off the lights
We gonna lose our minds tonight
What's the dealio?
I love when it's all too much
5 AM turn the radio up
Where's the rock and roll? ~
Ugh. Morning.
~Party crasher, panty snatcher
Call me up if you are gangsta'
Don't be fancy
Just get dancey
Why so serious?
So raise your glass if you are wrong
In all the right ways. ~
My alarm clock is blaring Raise Your Glass by P!nk.
~All my underdogs, we will never be, never be
Anything but loud
And nitty gritty dirty little freaks
Won't you come on, and come on, and
Raise your glass
Just come on and come and
Raise Your Glass!~
I tried to hit the snooze button without opening my eyes. It wasn’t working very well. After about 5 minutes of aimlessly reaching in the air to hit the alarm it finally shut up. I closed my eyes just to be awakened again in the next several minutes.
“DANIELLA ROCHELLE TANNER! GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF THAT BED! COME ON! IT’S 10 AM AND YOU’RE LUCKY I LET YOU SLEEP IN SO LATE! IF YOUR NOT OUT OF BED AND DRESSED IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES, YOU’LL REGRET IT! NO PHONE! NOW GET UP!” My mother screamed at me from down stairs. I don’t know why she can’t just peacefully come to my room and say ‘Danny, get up please.’ Though if she did that I’d probably ignore her and go on sleeping. So maybe it is better if she screams and bursts my ear drums in the process. I got up and walked sluggishly to my closet to pick out some clothes. I wasn’t in the mood to wear anything that took effort to put on. Where am I going today? Oh, yeah I have to go to the studio and meet some bands. My mom wants me to see if they sound okay to me as a ‘teen audience’.
I pulled out a dark green t-shirt advertising Lucky Charms and some blackish jean shorts. Hey, you’re never too old for cereal with marshmallows in it. My mom wants me to eat this organic stuff that tastes like powder and raisons. Gross. I grabbed some colorful socks and my converse and pulled them on. As a finishing touch I pulled my hair in a pony tail and quickly applied some eyeliner and mascara. You may say, wait a second, 5 seconds this girl didn’t want to waste the effort on clothes so why is she putting on make-up? It’s because it takes me about a minute and really works for my eyes. Running down stairs I saw my mom surfing the internet on her iPhone. She looked really professional with brown hair lighter than mine, curled to perfection, and a ago light purple blouse and a grey pencil skirt on.
“Eat something Danny, then we need to head out.” She said briskly. This was always how it was with Mom.
“Okay, but I still gotta brush my teeth.”I said. I picked some Lucky Charms and pored myself a bowl with some Soy milk. I might not eat organic cereal, but I’ve grown to like this supposedly healthful milk. Yum. I ran to the bathroom to brush my teeth quickly and bounded out the door, where my mother was waiting for me. “Can I drive? Please, please, please, please? I need some more practice. Please?”I said jumping in place. I had no idea where this newfound energy came from. “Danny, you get your license in two weeks. Why do you need so much practice?” she asked sternly.
