Chapter 2
~Danny~ (Girl!)
The most adorable guy with black hair and blue eyes, which just made my heart melt, was playing the guitar and singing at the busy street corner. Usually guys were just a roadblock on the way of life. I did not need that. I was about to turn around when his angelic voice reached my ears. How could someone have a voice like that and not be famous? Of course, it would be hard to get famous in this stupid state. I mean, Indiana?
I used to live in California, where everything was so much bigger and better than everything here. At least we didn’t live in the city next to us. They were MUCH smaller than us. My mom lost her job as a recording studio manager so we had to come here so she could work at the tiny one here. I wonder if Guitar Boy here would ever get a recording contract. He definitely could if he wanted to. I started to walk towards him right when he looked up and looked into my eyes. I paused watching him watch me. When a car honked at me I quickly cut the distance between us.
“Hey there, gorgeous. My name’s Sam. What about you?” he said with extreme confidence. You could tell he had a lot of experience in the girl department, yet he wasn’t quite cocky.
“The name’s Danny. And you aren’t so bad looking yourself.” I said matching his confidence. I also had experience in the boy department. I could make them bend to my will. I usually didn’t keep a close boyfriend because they got annoying. I couldn’t see where Sam would be any different, but at the same time I kind of hoped he would be. Even though he was so confident he had an air of sweetness around him. His eyes seemed so innocent and pure. He was wearing a blue checkered shirt that matched his eyes and dark blue jeans that fit just right.
“Danny stand for Danielle?”
“No, Daniella. But if you call me that I’ll smash that pretty face in. And if I can’t, I got a big strong guy friend that’ll do it for me.” I said. I knew it was an empty threat, but it sounded tough just like I wanted him to see me.
His eyes sparkled as he said, “Okay, no calling you by your full name. Who’s this beefy guy friend? Boyfriend?” He smiles jokingly. He really is adorable. My stomach does a little flip-flop as he smiles. NO. Guys are only stupid things that get in the way of what I really want to do. I take a deep breath hoping he won’t notice.
“No, just a friend. But he’s captain of the football team and really can bash your face in.” Now I’m the one smiling, except it’s more like a smirk. He seems shocked that I would keep such company. It doesn’t really surprise me though seeing as I don’t look like I hang around those kind of guys. But Jack’s been my friend since 2nd grade when a kid tried to push me down for accidently bumping into him. Jack came up to him said, “It’s not cool to push around girls.”, and knocked him over. Then he shared his cupcake with me and we were besties after that.
“You don’t really look like the kind if girl to hang out with those jerks.” He said still shocked.
I quickly replied, “Not all jocks are jerks. Though most of them are, Jack’s not.” He smiled that dazzling smile at me again, and I couldn’t help but smile back at him.
“Sure you guys aren’t more than fiends?” he asked, knowing what the answer would probably be.
“Nope.” I said popping the ‘p’. “So, you write your own music?” I said pointing a finger at his guitar.
“Yup.” He said popping the ‘p’, mocking me. We both stared at each other seriously. At the same time we started bursting out laughing. “You’re not so bad Guitar Boy.” I said still laughing.
“Neither are you Gorgeous. Wanna go grab a burger or something?”he said hopefully. I wasn’t sure what to say. I really liked this guy but should I? I hardly knew him. But risks are good, right? They can lead to amazing times.
“Sure.” I said finally, hoping that I wouldn’t regret this later.
