Hey guys! Sorry for not uploading last week. I spent the entire weekend rereading the Hunger Games. Can't wait for the movie to come out! Okay so... Enjoy!

Chapter 11

~Danny~

The past week was spent on the couch, occasionally throwing up. Yeah, I know. TMI. The only thing that seemed to keep me going was large amounts of black-and-white TV, lying around, and texting. Sam and I talked about rescheduling our date. Actually, we seemed to talk about everything. Sometimes at random times of the day he’d call me just to check on how I was doing. The day after our date he brought over some chicken noodle soup. My mom says it’s not nice to have people wrapped around my finger like this. I tried to explain to her that it’s not my fault; Sam’s just the kind of guy to do things like that. She just rolled her eyes at me. I’m seriously not complaining though. It’s really nice to have a guy like Sam.

My mom also feels like we’re ‘rushing into things’. I countered back, “Like how Dad and you met and got married a month later?”

Her eyes squinted as she said, “That’s not the same Daniella.”

I, of course, stormed off to my room where I now listen to angry music. Last night I made plans with Sam to go to town and walk around. There’s a walkway there that’s apparently really nice. I’m going whether Mom likes it or not.

“So you’re feeling better?” Sam asked.

“Uh-huh. So glad that’s over. I must not be used to these foreign diseases.” I joked.

Sam laughed. “Yeah, that must be it. We have the worst here. Like, corn pox, boring-itus, and the worst of all are… the red dots. It’s like being scratched by a thousand spikes all at once. It starts with a tingling sensation on your elbow.” He sneakily brushed his finger over my elbow. “Then, you feel a pain in your nose.” He pinched my nose ‘til it stung a bit. “And worst of all, when you know you definitely have it… you get red dots that hurt like nobody knows it all over.”He then started poking my face, my arms, my stomach, and my legs.

I giggled and pushed him. “Stop! That kinda hurts, you know!”

He quit abruptly and put his hands to his side. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

“Sam,” I said concerned, “what are you talking about? It didn’t hurt that bad. I was just trying to get you to stop.”

He sighed and looked at the ground, “I know. It’s just… I thought I hurt you.”

I shook my head. The tinkling music of an ice cream truck approached us. “C’mon, let’s get you some ice cream.”

Sam sighed and then attempted a smile, “Sure, why not?”

We approached the big white truck with the flavors of the treats posted on the side. I tried to decide between a chocolate covered thing and a simple Popsicle. Sam stared at only one.

“You want the alien one?” I grinned and covered up my mouth to stifle my giggles.

“What, you don’t think its cool enough?” He smiled crookedly.

I shook my head now and grinned wider. “No, it’s just that I used to get those all the time with my dad. They were my favorite.”

He frowned slightly, “Why’d you quit getting them?”

“Because, I’m a bit old for that now, aren’t I?”

“Well, not really. You’re never too old to get alien shaped ice cream.”
