The Necklace

Louis' POV

We all found a small restaurant on the side of the road on Tim's birthday and we all had a meal courtesy of Harry and his 'little helpers' as he called them, which was me and Niall.

It had been two days since then and we'd spent them in the car, stopping to stretch our legs every so often. The days had been drama free and we'd just all thoroughly enjoyed each others company.

Freya had definitely made her mark on the group...especially Liam. I'd been keeping a close eye on those two since I found out Liam definitely liked her. I knew Liam got nervous when it came to girls so I would always make sure they ended up together one way or another! Whether it was just sitting next to each other or splitting off together.

Niall and Eva were doing well. They hadn't exactly announced they were in a relationship but I guessed Eva had gotten up enough courage to tell him she was ready. They were always kissing and cuddling.

At the moment, we were all lay in the back just chilling and talking.

"Why did the baboon ask the giraffe 'why the long face'"? Harry asked.

"I don't know, Harry." I groaned.

"Enlighten us, please"! Liam grumbled sarcastically.

"Because he thought his neck was his face"! Harry laughed his head off at his seventeenth bad joke in a row.

"Harry, that was an awful joke"! Niall commented and Harry rolled his eyes and giggled.

"Hey, I need a way to entertain myself! You have a girlfriend"! Harry stated.

Niall looked at Eva who he had his arm wrapped around. She looked at him.

"You're not together, are you"? Freya said, already fully well knowing the answer. They both shook their heads and Harry's face fell.

"Well then make it official"! Harry demanded.

"I was actually gonna do it a little more romantically than this, thanks Harry." Niall quickly glanced at Harry before looking at Eva again. He took his arm from behind her back and pulled out a large, flat box. I stared at it, stunned. He wasn't gonna...propose was he?

"Eva" Niall paused to open the box. Eva's eyes were wide. "Will you be my girlfriend"?

She grinned uncontrollably and nodded. "OF COURSE I WILL YOU IRISH IDIOT"! She screamed and hugged him tightly.

We all laughed and Niall took a plain and simple silver necklace with two love hearts conjoined as the charm. She turned around and Niall laced it around her neck and did it up as she held her hair out of the way.

"Oh Niall, it's so beautiful"! Eva looked at it lovingly before pulling him in for a kiss. "That kiss would've been longer if you weren't all looking at me"! She exclaimed and we all laughed once more.

"When and where did you get it"? I asked.

"Pandora when we were in the shopping centre." Niall answered. Eva couldn't stop grinning.

She cuddled up to him before Liam spoke up from the drivers seat.

"Hey guys...I think we're here." He stopped the car and we all looked out of the windows.

"I don't see anything." I said.

"Yeah, just grass." Harry laughed.

"Harry Styles. Always stating the obvious." Eva mocked.

"Am not"! He argued like a child.

"Are too"! Eva laughed.

"You two are just like siblings, you know that"? I mentioned and they stopped.

"Eva, do you know what the shelter is meant to look like"? Liam asked, looking at Eva.

"No idea. Sorry Liam"!

"I guess we better get out and explore then." Liam turned the car off and got out.

"Oh thank God, my legs are in great need of a stretch"! Harry quickly jumped out and began running around the car.

Once we were all out, Harry stopped, and we looked around. We all stayed together and just walked. After about ten minutes of this aimless exercise Harry spoke up.

"OK, this is ridiculous! We have no idea what we're looking for so why are we even trying"?

"Well if you haven't noticed Styles, it's gonna be winter soon so if we just give up we'll soon freeze to death. And you never know, we might know when we see it"! Eva shouted and he didn't say another word. She smiled with pride. I grinned at her victory.

*BANG*

"What the-"? I began but was cut off by another.

*BANG*

"ITS A GUNSHOT! GET DOWN"! Liam yelled and we all collapsed momentarily and lay there, all shaking with fear. I had landed next to Freya who was next to Liam, who was holding tightly to Timmy, Tim was next to Harry, then Niall and Eva.

"Why are they firing at us"? Freya whimpered.

"I don't know, maybe they think we are a threat"! I suggested and Liam nodded.

*BANG* *BANG*

"Someone needs to reason with them." I slowly began to stand up. I was in view of them and I could see them also. There looked to be around eight of them all lined up with guns along the hilltop.

"FIRE"! A deep voice bellowed.

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

I let myself fall back down into the soft grass. I lay there breathless.

"Oh my God...Louis"? I heard Eva whisper-shouting.

"Louis, did they get you"? Harry was panicking.

"Freya, check him"! I heard Niall say.

"Louis"! Tim whispered.

"It's fine. They didn't get me, don't fuss! This is just gonna be harder than we thought"!
