A/N: my internet is down so I had to go to my friends house to publish this chapter...and I did it all for you! :D
Niall's POV
I looked at the long winding road ahead of me, surprisingly it was clear. I felt doubts creeping in about going through a few towns before actually getting to our destination. It felt safer here in the countryside than what would most likely be crowded towns and when I think crowded I mean by walkers.
I looked in the rear view mirror to see a sleeping Timmy. I thought he was adorable but I was worried about the kid. Especially after the way Eva acted earlier about his family - she seemed on edge when she talked about it.
That got me thinking about Eva. Eva. There were no words to describe her. I felt like the luckiest man in the world when she saved me from those walkers and not just because she saved me from death. It was because of the way she tried to act cool, the way she laughed, the way she smiled, how she blushed, how her eyes lit up, her protection over Timmy, just how cute she was in general. This prompted me to look over at her. She had fallen asleep again. Her light brown wavy hair flowing over her shoulders, her lips slightly parted as light snores escaped them, her beautiful brown eyes were hidden. Every so often she would mumble something, as if she'd been disturbed but then soon returned to normal again.
She was wearing a khaki jacket, a white T-shirt, some denim jeans and white converse. The clothes hugged her small figure as she kept turning to get comfortable.
I watched as her eyes fluttered open and she stretched and yawned.
"Hey sleepy head"! I greeted as her eyes met mine - God they were stunning.
"Oh Niall I'm so sorry, I nodded off again! I was gonna take the wheel earlier... here, let me drive for a bit." She insisted.
"No, its OK love, I'm alright for a bit" I kept my hand firmly on the wheel and smiled.
"Seriously Niall you've been driving for hours"! She stated. To be fair, I had and we were still in the countryside so we had a long way to go yet. It was the evening by now and we needed to find a safe place to stay for the night. I somewhat doubted we could sleep in this car - even if we did, the walkers would probably get in quite easily judging by Eva's already cracked windows.
"No Eva, trust me I'm fine"! I argued and she gave a sigh. I couldn't help but smile.
"So what's the deal with Tim's parents"? I whispered and a sad expression flashed across Eva's face.
"His father, Darren, was bitten in my parents garden. We were all going to have a barbeque tonight so I was on my way down from Uni but the outbreak happened when I was over halfway there - I guess you could say I found out the hard way. I went to the house and found Tim upstairs in the bathroom. He told me how my parents left with his mum, Natalia, unconscious. Later, I found a letter from my mum explaining how Darren got bitten, Natalia fainted and they lost Timmy." She explained quietly, every so often checking Timmy was still asleep.
"Oh my God I'm so sorry"! I immediately apologised.
"It's not your fault Niall. I just wish I'd of been there. I just wish that a sweet little boy like him didn't have to go through such an experience - he doesn't deserve to have his father ripped away from him like that. It's not natural." I could see the tears brimming in her eyes and I reached over and squeezed her hand tightly for reassurance.
"Hey, you know its not your fault either! There was nothing you could've done Eva, trust me. I know its horrible but you've got to stay strong, babe, otherwise if Tim sees you like this we know how it'll make him feel." I felt so helpless in this situation as I watched Eva's tears fall onto her lap.
