Orphaned

The next day I woke up to my phone buzzing. I looked at the clock it was 6:30

I groaned not wanting to get up but grabbed my phone to see who it was. I unlocked my screen and saw that Liam texted me.

From Liam:

Me and Mason are going on a run in 30..want to come?

To Liam:

Yeah sure

From Liam:

K meet you at your house

I got up and was making my way downstairs but I saw Scott's door open and he was sitting at the edge of his bed in deep thought. I walked over to his door frame and knocked.

"Hey you okay?" I ask softly

He snapped his head up to me and swallowed

"Yeah yeah i'm fine" He said unconvincingly

"You sure about that cause you don't look fine" I said sitting down on his bed next to him

"...Is it about the money?" I asked

He was silent

"Let me guess the thought of keeping it crossed you mind because we could use the money to pay for the bills that were behind on paying...don't worry it crossed mine to" I said laying down

He looked at me in shock

"How do you know about that?" He questioned

"well I hear her on the phone and plus you don't actually think I didn't notice the power was off" I said

"oh" was all he said

"Well" I started, sitting up "I'm going on a run with Mason and Liam so i'll see you at school" I said patting his knee and walking out his door but before I was out of view I turned around to face him.

"Oh and Scott" I said and he looked up at me "Do what you think is right not best" I said and he had a slight smile.

I got back into my room and saw it was 6:45 so I quickly got dressed in some yoga pants , the ones that are tight at the ankle and don't flare, a black tank top and and a tight black sweater. I went to the bathroom and put my hair up in a ponytail then went downstair an grabbed a granola bar an ate it.

after I finished my granola I heard a knock on the door. I went and opened it and saw Liam and Mason smiling at me.

"you ready" Liam asked

"Yup" i said and yelled bye to sScott and we took off

After about 10 minutes of running down the trail mason kept talking about Violet and Garret. I wasn't paying much attention cause I was to busy staring at Liam until I almost tripped so I decided to join their conversation.

"It's not just that we were friends with them. They were using us for their cover. I mean, professional killers were using us. How are you not freaking out about that?" He asked Liam

"Trust me, I'm freaking out about a lot." Liam said and took of running

"Liam, slow down. Liam!" Mason said stopping trying to catch his breath

"I'll get him" I said and I followed where Liam went

when I finally spotted him he had stopped and he turned around. when he did I saw a car come out of nowhere making his way towards Liam.

"Liam look out!" I yelled but it was too late the car hit him. I rushed over and bent down to him

"Oh my god are you okay?" I asked before he could answer someone got out of the car. when they shut the door I saw who it was.
