Me and Scott were currently waiting for my dad at the station. Apparently he's leaving tonight so we were here to say goodbye. I was sitting on one of the deputy's desk kicking my feet. I looked over and saw Scott. He looked like he was listening to something.

"Are you ease dropping?" I asked with a smirk

"I wa-" He cut himself off "I just can't believe he killed someone" he said looking disappointed

"Scott you do realize the guy had me and Stiles at gun point right?..there was literally one second left and he would have shot me in the head" I said

I couldn't help but feel like he didn't care about how I almost died. I know he did though.

"I know and i'm thankful that you and Stiles are still alive but he-" Scott didn't get to finish because my dad walked out.

"Thanks for waiting. I know it's late." He said shutting the door behind him

"It's okay. It's not like were going to be going to school tomorrow anyway." Scott said

"Unfortunately, I'm going to have to drive back to San Francisco tonight. I'll need to do a review at the field office. But I'll be back as soon as I can." he said and looked down "I might have to miss the first game of the season." He said sadly

"It's no big deal." Scott said

"It is to me. I'm keeping my promises this time." He said and Scott looked down at the gun that was in the evidence bag my dad was carrying "What I did, it was necessary. Justifiable. You know that, right?" He asked Scott

"Have you...done it before?" Scott asked skeptically

"Two other times. It's not easy, taking a man's life, even someone who forces you to do it."

"How do you deal with it?"

"You look at it logically. Without emotion. You compartmentalize."

"How do you do that?"

"I used to do it by drinking." My dad said his voice breaking and he smiled sadly

He pulled us both into a big hug

"One more thing." He started as we pulled out of the hug "When I do come back, we have to talk about some stuff. both of you and your friends, the way you guys handle things, it doesn't seem to faze you like it should. It's like you guys know something I don't. When I come back, I'd like to be in the know." He said

I loked over at Scott with wide eyes and Scott had the same look as he stuttered for something to say. He didn't say anything just nodded his head. My dad clasped Scott's shoulder and he put his other arm around my shoulder and we walked out of the station.

"Bye" I said and gave him a hug as we made it to his car.

"Bye Emma" he smiled

Him and Scott hugged and said their goodbye's and then he took off me and Scott stood there for a second watching the his car disappear.

"So" I started hooking my arm with Scott's as we walked to his bike.

"Are you ready? It's almost time" I said sadly and leaned my head on him arm

"I dont think i'll ever be ready for what we are about to do, but I am ready to stop the benefactor" He said and handed my a helmet

"You know if anything happens and we can't pull you back out" I took a breath before continuing

"I just want you to know that over the passed couple years you've taught me so much. you've taught me how to dance terribly, you taught me how to do my hair, how to play lacrosse, do my math homework" I said smiling remembering all the night he would stay up with me doing my homework
