The next days met Lorelai with a strict studying schedule followed by several exam-based assessments at university, which unfortunately meant she didn't have much time to meet Neymar again, or go to the training sessions even. And regarding the matches themselves, she had to suffice with Diego's narration of how his night at Camp Nou had gone down (he'd gotten VIP tickets from Lorelai for the Copa del Rey match against Elche CF for Christmas, which, of course, Barcelona won five to nil) as well as Neymar's excessive descriptions on how her roommate's visit to the changing room had gone — it was still quite a mystery to her how those two suddenly got along. But neither Diego nor Neymar would give her any sort of information about the fact, opting for quickly changing the subject after cryptically saying something about »guy stuff« instead.

Jane was puzzled as well, but ultimately her curiosity wasn't going to kill the cat. »Let's just appreciate the fact that our guys get along, okay? Diego keeps playing this online game on his tablet with Neymar. Let's take it as some sort of guy bonding thing and enjoy it!« was the only thing she had to say to that. But Lorelai didn't fully trust the apparent truce between »their guys« just yet.

Huh. Lorelai and Neymar hadn't even had that particular »my guy, your girl« talk yet. What were they anyways? Aside from people who really, really liked to have sex with each other and kiss each other and be around each other. And talk to each other.

There may have been no time to meet up again, but they talked over the phone and texted each other quite a lot — a most welcome, if inconvenient, distraction from Lorelai's student duties. But said talks always left her with a happy feeling, with a bunch of butterflies flying wildly around in her tummy and a weird light-headed feeling whenever she heard his voice on the other end of the line.

Like now.

»So, examination time will be over soon, right?« Neymar asked her.

It was Saturday, 10th January, and Lorelai was on her way via Diego's car to her hometown. Her iPhone was connected to the speakerphones of the car, enabling her to talk freely while staying focused on the traffic.

Lorelai shrugged as she set the blinker to change lanes and drive past a slower car. »Yeah,« she answered him without much enthusiasm. The goal of today's travels distracted her somewhat, causing a deep sadness to wash over her that she hadn't felt with such intensity for quite some time now — not ever since having Neymar in her life, to be exact.

»You still haven't told me where you're going right now,« Neymar said, changing the subject. »You okay?«

The question made her sigh with a heavy heart. »I'm on my way to my sister's.«

»Ah, say hi from me!« he said enthusiastically. Lorelai smiled despite herself; he couldn't understand yet that Lorelai wasn't referring to the still alive sisters that had taken a liking to the football player and kept bothering Lorelai about the status of their relationship. Well, Laurín did, mostly. Luna just wanted him to come by soon to show him the rest of her doll collection. »You visiting your family back home?«
