I looked at the pavement, a good fifty metres, below me. I whipped my head back around to look at Ash, the boy who knocked me out a few hours ago. He had a wild look in his emerald eyes now... Almost the eyes of a lunatic.
He had snuck into my recovery room and shoved a gun in my face. It was nearly midnight so he had no trouble dragging me through the dank corridors without getting caught. Every step I took sent a jolt of pain through my head and I nearly fell down the steel steps on several occasions.
When I first woke up I thought it was the nurse, but when I saw the barrel of the gun between my eyes, my breathing quickened and my heart rate trppled. By my side my hands were shaking and my eyes were filling with tears. But I refused to let them spill over.
Ash staggered towards me, gun held high.
"This is what you get! This is what you get for insulting me! For making me look week! Like a fool!" He screamed, looking violent in the moon light. He is drastically over reacting, maybe caused by anger issues or because he might be psychotic. But now wasn't the time to worry about that, I needed to get out of here."You don't need my help to accomplish that, mate!" I call back, hoping to make him mad. He growled and pointed the gun at my feet.
Bang!
I try to move before the bullet hits me, but fail and so does my plan. I scream in agony and drop to the ground. I grab my foot and put as much pressure on it as possible. Blood pulses in my ears and for a while I forget I'm on a ledge, fifty feet in the air, the wind rushing around me.The tears finally spill down my cheeks and I turn to look at my murderer. But I see Conner, breathing deeply and with a bloody fist. Behind him stand a group of a dozen people, all of them looking at me. I pull my eyes back to Conner, but his gaze is locked on the ground in front of him. I follow his line of vision and gasp at what I see.
There, lying at Conner's feet, is Ash. His eyes are closed and he has a bloody nose, but his chest is slowly rising and falling. I look at the puddle of blood he is lying in and notice his arm is St a very awkward angle. Conner suddenly spins around and pushes his way through the croud.
