Missing Constant

You know me,
Like no one else does.
You see me,
When no one else can.
With you,
I always knew my place.
You could tell what I felt.
You saw right through my poker face.
When I was wrong,
You told me what was right.
You stayed awake,
To hear me rant through the night.
We've had our laughs,
We've had our cries.
And when I think of those memories,
They bring tears to my eyes.
When you first left,
There was no change.
But then you came back,
You stayed too long.
And since you left again,
Something feels wrong.
There is a space,
That needs to be filled.
There is a bed,
That needs to be slept in.
Funny how you were always here.
But when I need you,
You are far away there.
I know you can't come back now.
I know I have to wait another year.
But is it possible to just screw all that,
Because I need you near.

We all have that one person in our lives, who is constant. They could be your parents, sister, brother, best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, lover or spouse. No matter what happens, they're always there. But sometimes when you need them most, when you miss them, they're not next to you. Not by choice but because of circumstance, they are far away from you. And in that moment, you feel alone. You feel empty. You feel sad. You feel lost. Because that constant star that was always shining, the one you admired every night, the one you wished upon, the one you counted on, has now been hidden by the clouds and they sky all of a sudden feels devoid of all stars.
