To enjoy their new courting status just between them. Hamilton and Jefferson waited until after Easter to break the news to anyone. And none was more surprised than Madison when he noticed there was a strange air about Thomas, but he couldn't place why... Until lunch. Thomas and Alex invited Gilbert and James into Thomas' office. The two friends sat on the couch, unsure what it was about. It almost felt like a meeting the way they were summoned.
"So, James, Gil. Alex and I have something to share with you."
The two sat uncertainly, Lafayette struggled not to sputter anything improper.
"Alexander and I are getting married." He simply finished.
The uncertain dread suddenly vanished from the room as their friends erupted in cheers.
"Oh mon Dieu! I can't wait to tell Hercules about this." He gushed while hugging Hamilton. "Do you have a ring? Show me!" He grabbed Alex's left hand. "What is this?! A piece of tin?" He seemed outraged by the simplicity of the band.
Making Jefferson laugh while he was being hugged by Madison.
"Congratulations, Thomas."
James patted him on the back before letting go.
"It was spur of the moment, I told him I'd get him a better ring, but he said no. What do you want me to do?"
"Uh-huh, oauis sûrement..."
"I did, Gil. I told him I didn't want anything fancy."
This time, Lafayette was confused.
"What? Why? The man is loaded. You could at least get yourself some nice jewellery. That's all I'm saying..." He calmed down, making everyone laugh.
"If I wanted pretty jewels, I didn't have to wait on him asking for marriage, Gil."
Collective ooo's were aimed at Jefferson.
"Alright, alright. Calm down, the lot of you. I didn't invite you here to get roasted. Just to share some good news."
"What are friends for, Thomas, if not for a good roast?" Madison added, keeping the humor alive.
"Right... in addition, I feel it's needless to say I want you to be my best man, James."
"And I want you to be mine." Alex addressed Lafayette.
"Oh, absolutely. No need to ask." Madison agreed.
"Oh my god, Alexandre! I need to get to work; there is so much to plan. Did you guys already pick a date?" The mother hen activated.
There was a beat of silence before Hamilton took the lead.
"Um... we were thinking June?"
"That quick?"
"Well, we're not exactly spring chickens anymore, are we, Madison? Why wait?"
"There's no time! How am I gonna get all of this ready?" Lafayette was panicking, making Hamilton chuckle.
"You don't have to look for a venue, if that's what you were thinking." Thomas eased his mind. "We only really need you guys to help with choosing the suits and helping get ready the day of. I've got most of it under control."
His quiet confidence gave Alexander pause. What exactly did Thomas have in mind?
Lafayette plopped down on the couch, disappointed.
"It's okay, Gil. You can help me with the invites."

Once their day was over, Thomas was coming down the stairs, having just put Grace to sleep in her crib. That's when Hamilton struck.
