They awoke to the blaring sounds of police sirens. And not just one or two. It sounded like every cop car in King County was outside their house.
Daryl's jaw dropped to the floor. And for the next few hours there were news vans from everywhere trying to piece together what the hell had happened.
"What was it?" Beth asked.
"Cannibals," Daryl said.
"Yer jokin' Daryl," Beth said with a sigh. "C'mon, what was it really?"
"That weirdo Gareth and mama Mary are cannibals," Daryl said. "Look!"
Beth was looking at the TV when Rick had come on.
"We ask for everyone to be calm as we try to investigate," Rick explained. "There have been remains found in the home, which will be DNA tested to establish who the victims were."
Three weeks later
Beth and Daryl were horrified to learn that they literally lived next door to monsters. Daryl kept apologizing to Beth for building their house next to the Parish's, and Beth had to keep reminding him it wasn't his fault.
"Daryl, neither of us could ever predict what the Parish's really were," Beth said. "We knew they were strange and so we kept away. Besides, Daddy bought us the property. And I don't blame him either."
A few weeks later, they learned some of the victims. They felt badly, even though they didn't know them. Seems the Parish's scattered their victims around. Police guess that they didn't too many Senioa victims because it would be too easy to find them out, if suddenly townspeople begun disappearing. In fact, the only Senioa victim was Ed Pelletier and Rick is pretty sure that was because the Parish's knew that he probably wouldn't be missed.
"Ya know," Carol said to Beth, as they were preparing a family dinner, "Of all the times I fantasized about that bastards death, never once did I imagine death by cannibal."
Beth and Carol both cracked up, even though it was kinda morbid. But both couldn't help but not feel bad about it, after the hell on Earth that that man had but Carol through for so many years.
