"Thank you so much for coming with me." Onyx said to me as we were walking out of her appointment. "No problem hun, I sincerely don't mind. I know appointments can be so unnerving, especially alone. So if ever he can't make it, call me." I assured her as she nodded at that. "I started to call Dom since she's the godmother, but then I remembered they're in the same studio session. But then I started thinking, we never really got a chance to connect one on one for real." she said to me. Now to most people this may seem weird, but I loved her as a person. "That's true. It's always been good vibes, but we've never been like this." I admitted as we settled into my car. "You hungry?" I asked her. "Girl you know I am." we both laughed at that one, pregnancy was a mf. "Let's go get some lunch and we can talk some more." I said to her. "As long as you're not in one of those salad eating moods." We both burst into laughter. "I'm just saying ain't no lil salad gone do nothing for Big Mama." she said. "Oh no Love, I eat eat. Ain't no little salads this way unless it's an appetizer. I eat like a whole grown ass man who works 12 hour shifts on his feet boo." we laughed again. "Oh so you're just one of those luck mfs with the fast metabolism. I hate you." she said as we laughed again. I can see why anyone would like her, her whole vibe is so chill and goofy. "Girl please...I wish I could gain weight. This lil weight came after the baby, I been trying to get thick for a long time, it just never happened for me." "I'd gladly share some of mine." she said jokingly. "Nah I actually don't have an issue with my weight though. I never had the want to be skinny. I wanted a flat stomach now, but that's about it." she said with a slight giggle. "Well after the baby, we can get in the gym and make that happen if you want." I offered to her. "Bet, we can do that." she said as we pulled up to Grindhouse Killer Burgers. We went in and got seated and placed our orders before I noticed her just looking over at me. "So...how are you feeling these days?" she asked me. "You mean about our arrangement?" I asked and she laughed a little. "You mean our relationship? It's a relationship, not a business deal boo." she said with a laugh that I found myself sharing with her. "I wasn't sure how to word it respectfully. I didn't want to put myself in a position th..." "Don't overthink it. It looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Dox loves you for real and because he feels so strongly about you, I share the same emotion. Toya, you're a part of us. So it's like we're sister wives if you will..." she had a point. "...I was just making sure this is something you're still looking at pursuing before I try to build this bond with you and you decide against the whole thing." she said to me. "I'm happy here, so I don't see a need to leave a good thing." I said to her. "Good. So...I just want to get the awkwardness out the air, I don't want to make either of you feel uncomfortable, but you and D are both important parts of my life. Would you two being in the same rooms, make you feel uncomfortable?" I shook my head at that. "You sure?" "Yeah, me and D just have to sit down and have a real conversation and I think we'll be good." "Awesome! Do you feel like once the baby is born that you're gonna have less of him?" "I really hadn't thought about that part. I mean naturally a lot of his time and attention will be occupied, so I get that I'll see him less. It's expected for real, but I mean that was never a big thing to me, I remember how it was." "I like that you didn't make it about you. But I do want to let you know that you still matter as well and we have a solid support system so I'm sure you'll see more of him than you think." "Okay, but then it's still like the times that you all have shows or away on tour...I basically know what I signed up for in the end." "Not necessarily then either because you could always come with." she said to me as she took a sip of her lemonade and then we locked eyes. "Where there's a will there's a way is all I'm saying. But I can understand if you have reservations. Especially because you and Anthony may have your own separate situation going on as w..." "I think that's a dead situation. He seems to be happy with Rita, so...I don't think that's a thing." "How does that make you feel?" she asked me and I really looked into her eyes and saw the sincerity in her question. I haven't really spoken freely on the topic but here goes. "Truthfully...I feel indifferent. On one hand, I'm feeling weird because I always thought Tony and I were end-game. I think I wanted him to fight more for our relationship. On the other hand, I feel like that's selfish because here I am happy in another situation and irritated with him for doing the same." I never realized how fucked up that sounds until I said it out loud. "I get that. It's like no one wants to start all over again with a new person, we be wanting our man to act right. But starting over doesn't necessarily have to be an ugly thing. You have to make your situation beautiful. Whatever that means to you. If that means being open in both relationships, that's cool. If it means going back and trying it again with Tony, that's okay too. If it means you decided to just build with us, that's cool. Toya, you have to build the relationship that best suits you in the end. Don't think about Anthony, Dox, Me, or anyone other than you and AJ." I needed to hear those words for real. Honestly it was an unexpected closeness that I felt with Onyx that I really didn't have with other people. I see why her and Dom rock so heavily.
