"Yeah, you can pull up on me. I'm at the studio." I told him as I situated the papers on my desk. "You sure?" he asked me. "Jay, you cool here bruh. Ain't nobody on no fuck shit. Just come through." I told him. "Alright, I'm on my way." he said as we hung up. I knew I detected something weird in his voice that struck me wrong, but I really couldn't even react to it right now until I knew what was up. I started looking over the calendar and realized it was about time to get another big battle going. I needed to upstage the last one for sure, but I knew I was gonna have to marinate on this one. I might have to find a way to mix the battle with a showcase, like make it a little more classy to a degree. I had to just laugh to myself on that tip, who the hell puts classy and battle together?? "Bruh laughing to yourself in an empty room isn't a good sign for the status of your mental." I heard Jay say as he walked in the office. "And you know I know some shit about mental shit." he said and we both laughed as we shook hands and sat down. "Point taken. But what's good with you bruh? You sounded a lil off on the phone." I said to him. "Man...so I was chillin between classes today. I was sitting in a common area with the wife for a minute. When she walked off, you'll never believe who walked up on me." "Shit...I probably won't even be able to guess it brody." "Yeah you wouldn't. But Jazz walked up on me..." I just know this is about to go sideways. "So she's asking me like oh you really got married and shit and I tell her yeah and she congratulated me and told me how happy I looked. So, me being shocked, I said to her what I really needed to say. I apologized to her for how I left shit because it was very disrespectful and shit and I felt bad. And I explained to her how she didn't deserve that and it's a level of respect as a man I should've shown her for even opening her legs to me..." "That's big of you. I respect that bruh, like that was the mature ass thing to do." "Yeah it was necessary but then she dropped this on me..." he said as he reached in his pocket and pulled out a paper and set it on the table. I looked at it and picked it up and opened it and I couldn't believe this sonogram. "So wait...is she pr..." "No, she aborted the baby. She told me that she was happy at first and then realized that she wanted me and not the baby for real and she wouldn't have been a good mom to the baby." I sat back in my chair and slid the picture back over to him. I think I wasn't quite sure what to say. "You okay man?" I asked him and to be honest, I looked at the expression on his face and knew that he wasn't but I needed to hear him say it. "Bruhhh on the real no. Like this whole past year has been crazy as hell. Like losing not one but two ki..." Jay stopped talking for a moment and I looked to the side of me to figure out what he was looking at and I saw Dom standing there like she was about to knock and then she changed the route. I think she might've just read the vibes. I tuned back into him. "...maybe it's my karma bruh. I might deserve this." he said as he sat back in the chair. "I don't think anyone deserves what you're going through. But at the same time, perhaps God is trying to get your attention. That might sound corny but I'm just saying." I said to him. "You might be right, but man I regret how I handled both of their mothers." That's the first time I really heard him sound sincerely apologetic. "D can't even look at me, you see how quickly she just turned around? Then when the conversation came with Jazz...I just felt low." "You can't beat yourself up about it though. At the end of the day Jazz did exactly what she felt was best for her. Think about the quality of life your child would have had with a mom who isn't interested in being a mom, but just interested in keeping you. And then as far as you and Dom, bruh I feel like yall could mend that situation. She's not mad at you at all, but more so there's a lot that needs to be said between the two of you." "It'll never be said because we can't even converse regularly." "Ask yourself this though bruh, if y'all never get to that point, are you gonna be okay with that?" "Naw." he admitted to me, even though I knew the answer already. "Then make right what you can, that way you can move on with your life. You can't stay in this frame of mind for too long, it'll make you revert back to a person you elevated from bruh. On some real shit, you've become more of a man than anyone could've ever imagined in the last couple months. Don't go back, you owe that to yourself. Take everyone else out of the equation. You became who you are for you and then you built a foundation with Suki. Ever since then, you have literally took off like a jet. Stay in that direction." I told him and he picked his head up and for the first time since he got here, he looked calm. "Thanks man, I needed to hear all of that. Like I been trying and putting the work in and at least I know somebody sees it. I mean outside of Suki, because of course she knows. But I appreciate the acknowledgement." "Of course. But as long as you know this for yourself, fuck who don't notice. But on the real, the person before me is a grown ass man. Not a lil boy searching for acceptance or validation. You're a man with a plan in all actuality. You making that shit happen and I can't wait to watch you continue to prosper." He stood up and we shook hands and I hugged him. I pray that really touched my nigga.
