Some promises are meant to be broken

You and your boyfriend Nico di Angelo, were on a walk in the woods. You guys have been dating for over 5 years now, and he was ready to live the rest of his life with you. He planned to take you to the tree where he first asked you to be his girlfriend, and where you guys had your first kiss, to pop the big question.

He was nervous, and you could tell something was going on.

"Nico, are you Ok?" You asked.

Nico flinches, for he was deep in thought, but quickly replies with a quick, "huh? Yeah, yeah I'm perfectly fine"

You look at him skeptically, but let it slide.

"So, where are we going?" You ask.

"Our tree" was all he said.

You guys continue walking until you finally reach 'Your guy's tree'.

"Okay, we're here, what now?" You ask.

Nico takes a deep breath, and takes hold of your hands. He looks down at your (E/C) orbs with his dark brown ones and begins to speak.

" (Y/N), we've been together for about 5 years now, and those past 5 years have been the best in my entire life. You make my world complete, without you, I don't know what I'd do. I promise that I will love you and care for you. I promise that no harm will come to you as long as I'm around. With that said, love, I need to ask you something"

But before he can go any further, a loud roar could be heard behind you. You turn around to find two manticores running towards you.

Nico immediately draws his sword and stands in front of you protectively.

You click the button on your bracelet, and it becomes a (weapon of choice).

Once Nico sees that you're armed, he charges at the manticore who is ahead. You follow close behind him, attacking the second manticore.

Nico easily kills the monster with one swing of his Stygian iron sword.

You however, are having a bit of trouble. You can't get a clear shot with your (weapon of choice).

Finally, you see an opening, and kill the monster, turning it into gold dust.

You stand there panting, and a little sweaty, until you feel two muscular arms wrap around your waist and turn you around, hugging you close.

"You I know I love you right?" Nico mumbles into your shoulder.

"Yeah, I know. I love you too" you say.

You guys pull away, Nico puts his forehead against yours.

Nico gives you a quick peck on the lips, and looks you in the eyes.

"So, about what I was going to say before," He tells you nervously.

You smile, but before he can utter a word, 3 spikes penetrate your chest and abdomen.

You slowly look down, hands holding your stomach, and look back up at Nico and fall to your knees.

His face is much more paler than it usual is as he tries to hold you up. He looks past you to see a third manticore.

He gently lays you down on the forest floor quickly charges at the beast and kills it.

He looks back over to where he had laid you down, only to see you lying in a pool of tour own blood.

He runs to your side and cradles your body to his chest.

"N-Nico" you start to say but Nico interrupts you.

"Shh, don't talk Y/N, y-you need to save your energy for when we get to c-camp" Nico's voice cracks a bit as he talks.

"Nico, we both know that I w-wont make it" you say weakly.

Nico shakes his head violently, tears streaming down his face.

"No! I promised you that you'd always be okay as long as I'm around. I'm going to take you to camp so that you can get better" Nico says harshly. He starts to pick you up, but you cry out in pain so he sets you down.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, oh my gods, Y/N, I don't know what to do!" Nico starts to sob.

You were crying too. You shakily lift your hand to caress his cheek. He looks at you with bloodshot eyes.

"I love you Nico. So, so much" you tell him.

He hugs you tighter and shakes his head.

"Don't you even dare say goodbye to me Y/N, you're going to live, you here me? You're going to be Ok" he cries through gritted teeth.

"Babe, stop denying it. I'm going to die" you say.

"NO! you're going to live! I promised you didn't I? I promised!" He screams.

"Some promises are just meant to be broken Nico." I whisper.

He starts crying harder now, rocking you both back and forth. You can feel yourself getting weaker by the minute. You struggle to keep your eyes open. Nico also feels the life draining from you, and he starts to panic.

"Y/N, Y/N stay with me! Keep your eyes open baby okay? Please just keep those beautiful (E/C) eyes open!" He says frantically.

"Nico, I l-love you" you whisper weakly.

"Y/N NO! This isn't goodbye! Please don't go! I love you too!" He sobs.

You smile up at him. He leans down and gives you one last, passionate kiss. Once he pulls away, your already gone. Nico is sobbing uncontrollably now, holding your body close to him.

"No, no, NO! WE WERE SUPPOSED GET MARRIED!! HAVE OUR OWN FAMILY!! WHY?! WHY HER?!" Nico screams to the sky.

He shakily pulls out the box, that held your ring, from his pocket. He opens it, and takes the ring, slipping it on your left finger. He whispers hoarsely

"Will you marry me?" And breaks down sobbing over your dead body.
