Chapter 1

Joon-Pyo thought it was going to be the typical New York party. Americans mingling around trying to show off their weight in the hierarchy of Manhattan. He loved the way he couldn't be recognized for the rich and famous playboy he was at home. He was invisible here, except he had to be somebody at this particular party. The room was full of model quality people, from the rich like him to the model elite and movie stars from Hollywood. All he could keep thinking of as he drank his wine is how fast he could leave. That was before he saw her.

He had been scanning the room calculating the right amount of time to make an appearance when their eyes locked. Her blue eyes met his brown, staring in unison. Nothing had hit him as much of a beam of light as his Jan Di. Nothing had been that bright except for this new face. This new person he had no idea could make him feel this way.

She walked over; drink in hand, arms folded with a knowing smirk on her face. Who ever she was, she seemed to understand a man's gaze. Most American woman had that assurance in them he liked. Confidence, but no humility. It was confusing.

"Stuck here too? I'm guessing you've been just as bored as I feel from the look on your face."

He took a sip of wine. "Yes. It is very dull."

She crooked her head. "Where are you from?"

"Korea."

Sipping again, she smiled. It sent a thrill through him he hadn't felt with anyone else until now. "I've played a concert in Seoul a few months ago. I really loved the people there."

"Concert?"

She smiled when he seemed confused. "You don't recognize me?"

"Should I?"

She shook her head from side to side. "No. You don't have to. But I might have to talk to my publicity people. My world wide fame might be slipping." She laughed as she took another drink. "You're?"

She left the question dangling for his introduction. "Gu Joon-pyo."

"Tiffany Smith. Nice to meet you. You in New York on business?"

For once, he was speechless. He could only shake his head yes. She plowed onward. "I haven't really wanted to hang around here much longer. Want to go somewhere else? There's a new club opening downtown. I'm on the list. Want to give it a go?"

"Sure. Sounds great." He heard himself say the words before he had a chance to stop himself.

"Fabulous." She put her drink down on the nearest table and grabbed his arm. "Let's get the hell outta here." He followed suit, leaving his drink behind as she pulled him by the arm from the party. Whatever was in store, he could only calculate that only one person would have the guts to treat him like this, and she was in Korea. This blonde haired, red lipped, blue eyed siren had her hooks literally around his heart already, and he couldn't help but smile as people parted in front of them as they left the party. Who was this girl?

The limo pulled up in front of the club door, making their entrance a spectacular New York affair. Bulbs flashed as he exited the car with Tiffany on his arm. He was used to the cameras flashing, but they were directed at her. He was usually the center of attention. It was strange to be her escort, and not the other way around.

She took a moment to wave to the people that lined the walkway along the velvet rope, and headed to the doors. They were whisked in with a brief nod from the door man. The nods from all the onlookers let her gain entrance with a smile. In fact, everyone seemed to know who she was but him. She seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite figure why.
