Want more to read in regards to Kpop and Kdrama? Well, this was a practice story in which I continued on with a new novel idea. I've been writing a k-pop romance for 3 years privately. No one has seen it until now. I'd had an editor helping me, was in the middle or rewrites, and then COVID19 hit in the Spring 2020. The pandemic has sent my writing into a tailspin. I've struggled writing fiction for over a year. I was able to write nonfiction, and wrote a book called "Get Ready to Push the Button: A Beginner's Guide to Self-Publishing" which is available on Amazon as an ebook and paperback. I also wrote a picture book called "I Don't Want to Wear a Mask" to help children learn the importance of wearing a mask. See, my secret life is that of a classroom teacher. So, writing and teaching writing is my life.
But my kpop romance sat on a shelf for a year. Until Amazon made an announcement of a new serial platform launching soon called Vella. It's similar to the paid program on Wattpad, where tokens are used to unlock further episodes after the first three free episodes. Since I haven't been asked to be in the Stars Program here, and maybe some day I will, I decided to try my story there. I can write the story on Vella, and then after a month or two off the platform, I can put it together as an ebook. Unless it does well on Vella, in which, I'd keep it there.
Why Vella? A girl has got to eat. Though I do love writing on Wattpad, it mostly doesn't support my ability to make a living. I do freelance writing through Fiverr and help with supporting other authors to self-publish. I talk on panels at conferences, and basically teach others to help make their dream come true. If you want to make some money at writing, you have to diversify. I know several authors that are on different platforms, self-publish wide (on other digital publishing platforms), and just try to help each other to create better novels, stories, and novellas.
Just a word about Vella. It is only available for readers in the US for now. You get 200 free tokens to try out different stories. Each episode (like chapters) has the ability to be liked, which gets the author higher in the categories to be seen. Once a week, readers can "Fav" a story that they've read for the week and use paid tokens to read. I noticed you don't get a "Fav" unless you buy tokens. The "Fav" helps stories get a CROWN to be more noticed in the categories. Needless to say, all the authors on Vella want a crown.
So, here is the link to my story:
LOVE OVER KPOP https://www.amazon.com/Love-Over-Kpop/dp/B0945ZBBSH
I can only write the link. It won't actually link in Wattpad's system.
You can also find it by going to Amazon.com and typing in my pen name, Marilyn Vix. It comes up under all my books available on the Zon. It also works on iPhones through the Kindle iOS app. I don't have an iPhone, so I can't give direct links on how to get there through the app. But I imagine putting in "Love Over Kpop" or "Marilyn Vix" will get you there.
LOVE OVER KPOP is about a girl that has just started a job at an agency in LA that is paired with a Korean agency to help with managing the band, Friends5, in the States. But the finicky Woo In-ho won't come out of his trailer to film the current music video. Trish Russo, the new assistant, talks to him like a regular person, not bowing down to him like a Kpop idol. He responds to that, but on one condition, she helps out in the video. What is a girl to do when a gorgeous Kpop idol asks you to be in his video? Then she reads the scene she is to appear in. There's a kiss. Oh my. What a way to start her new job? Right?
Anyway, having tons of fun writing this story. I'm updating each week around Thursday with a serial editor helping me. In fact, I've got to go start working on episode 10 to send off to her tomorrow. It's revitalizing my writing right now, so much, I am even thinking of entering "Saving My Heart" into the Watties again. I never win. But hey, couldn't hurt again, even since it still qualifies? Again a girl has got to write and eat.
Thank you so much for reading this story and supporting my writing. I appreciate it. I just wanted to let you know how my writing has continued and let you know about this new story that is available. I'm sorry it's only available in the States for now, but maybe Vella will open up in other countries soon. Will have to see.
Please check out also my other stories on Wattpad, namely my full length billionaire romance, "Saving My Heart". And wish me luck for the Watties. Maybe this time I'll win. LOL
