Between You and Me

Chapter 8

A/N- sorry I haven't updated in a while I've been busy the 1st week back at school.

CHAPTER 8

I frantically looked around, however by the time my head shot up from staring at the grass the circle we were in had already dispatched and boys were walking into separate groups.

I mentally sighed and proceeded to find a group.

We had to get in groups of 5 and there were a couple of groups with 4, so I went to the closest one.

Hunter, Jarrod, Bailey and Will were the names of my group. We picked up our green sashes and made our way to the small sided field where we were to play against the red team.

We took our positions on the field, I was defence along with Bailey, Jarrod was in goals, Hunter was midfield and Will was striker.

With the blow of the whistle the game begun with the ball coming straight to my feet. A member of the other team was running at me but I quickly got round him which shocked the boys shown by their facial expressions.

"What, can't girls be good at soccer too?" I said dogging another player and passing it to Will who had the opportunity to score.

He took the shot, it was a pretty hard kick too.

Great goal, right in the corner, the keeper had no chance of saving it. We all congratulated Will on his goal and made our way back ready for the kick off.

"Great job Will!!" Jarrod said with a thumbs up from the goal mouth,

"Thanks mate!" Will yelled back.

The final whistle blew signalling the end of the game. I put my sports shirt back on that I took off at half time due to the heat. I covered my black crop top with my shirt and drank some water from my bottle.

"Good game guys and errrr... girl." Bailey said as he sat down with Hunter, Jarrod, Will and I.

I jokily punched him in the arm, "just cause I scored more goals than you. AHAHA!!"

"Oh ha ha. Very funny. I told you I twisted my ankle during the game!"

"Yeah sure mate." Jarrod said sarcastically to Bailey which made us all laugh.

We ended up winning the game 6-0, I scored 3 goals, Will scored 2 and Bailey scored 1. I have to say Hunter was completely useless and was obviously a beginner.

I don't think he likes me that much, he kept giving me weird looks.

Oh well something about him didn't seem quite right but I couldn't put my finger on it.

After we collect all our bags and what not we boarded the bus.

"Do you want to sit next to me?" Bailey asked me.

"Yeah sure, thanks." I replied because if it wasn't for him I'd probably be sitting by myself.

We talked the whole way back to my school about just about everything, from school to food to when we were younger. Bailey was really nice, he kind of reminded me of Sam in a way.

Maybe I should introduce them, meh another time.

Once the bus stop out the front of my school Brooke and I stood up and exited the bus.

"Bye guys, see you next week." I said to my new friends.

Soccer was the last group back, so I found Aria, Sam and Kat sitting in our usual spot. We had about 20 minutes to the bell so we proceeded to tell each other about our day.

Sam and Aria said softball was boring but in athletics Aria won the 4km race. Kat's team won the 4X100 metre relay race but lost her basketball game.

As soon as I mentioned the word 'boys' Kat's face lit up so when I was telling them about soccer she was immediately interested.

"I guess I'll have to introduce you guys to them." I said to calm Kat down.

"Are they going to the carnival on Friday?" Kat asked.

"I'm not sure. I never asked."" I said, that was probably the only thing Bailey and I didn't talk about, "I reckon he is, everyone is going."

"Except me!!" Aria and Sam said almost simultaneously (Big word).

Kat and I just laughed. The bell went shortly after so we said goodbye and went to our separate bus stops.
