I can feel my heart thud in my chest as I open the doors to my old high school. Its been almost a decade since I walked the halls of this place. Vivid memories of teasing and shoving come to mind as I think about all of the kids who used to bully me. I might have to confront them tonight, but I wont be alone, I have Dan.

He can feel me tense up under my grip on his hand and squeezes it reassuringly. He stops.

"Phil, you're okay." He assures me.

I just shrug and pout a bit and look into his chocolate brown eyes to find any form of doubt hidden in them. Dan just returns my look of anxiety with a warm smile. "Is it bad to be so nervous?" I ask him.

He gives a quick, but not rushed kiss to my pouted lips. "Cheer up, love. Whatever impression you make on them wont matter in five years, there is really no need to worry. And whatever happens, Ill be here."

I feel the corners of my lips lift into a smile, which Dan returned. We start to walk to the school concourse, fashionably late as always.

"You go and catch up, and ill grab us some punch." Dan says quickly as he walks to a nearby counter topped with refreshments.

After almost no time I feel a tap on my shoulder. "Phil!" It was a short girl with a mop of long , messy, brown hair. One of my best friends from year 11.

"Oh, hey, umm Kathy right?" I try not to sound rude.

"Yeah!" She grins. Was she always this perky? She wraps me into a bone crushing hug and jumps right into a conversation. "So how's life going? You got a wife Phillip?" I cringe at my full name.

"Um, yeah. I actually brought my fiancé with me." I gesture to the general direction that Dan had gone, feeling too nervous to casually come out to her. Once you're out, you have to get used to coming out to anybody that might require knowing that bit of information about you. I have never been good at that.

I feel an arm slip arm around my waist, the scent gave away that it was Dan. "Whos this?" He asks me kindly, and giving Kathy a smile. But the look on her face is made up of pure confusion.

"Dan, this is my old friend, Kathy." She still looked pretty confused, but probably catching on now. "And Kathy, this is my fiancé, Dan"

Kathy looks over to Dan's hand that was casually placed around my waist, she must have seen the silver engagement ring on his left ring finger. When she looked back at us I scanned her face to see a warm smile. She held out one hand to shake Dan's. "Nice to meet you."

"You too."

It was such a nice feeling to know that at least one of my old high school friends were kind and accepting. "So what about you? Are you married?" I try to make conversation. She shrugs.

"Ive got a boyfriend, his name is Brian." She talks so quickly I can barely understand what she's saying.

All of our conversations went like this. We would find an old friend. They would ask me and Dan a few questions, we would return them. The night wasn't actually going as terribly as I thought it would.

---

"I knew it! I always knew he was gay!" A voice calls from a short distance. It seems familiar but deeper than what I remember. It was one of the guys who always used to tease me. I turn around quickly in Dan's arms that were placed around my waist. "Its disgusting that what I thought was true, but I guess it wasn't a phase then was it Lester?" The man spits.

I don't even remember his name, but apparently he remembered mine. I looked over towards Dan to see an irritated expression his pale face.

The man leaned down slightly to catch my eyes with his in an evil fashion. "Pathetic, you and your little boyfriend."

"Fiancé." Dan corrects him, puling me closer in the process.

"You know, I'm a millionaire and CEO of two different companies. I could ruin you, so I would keep my mouth shut if I were you." He glares at Dan. This kind of confrontation was what I was most anxious for.

I hide my scared expression in Dan's black dress shirt and cringe a bit. "We have got millions of fans around the world," Dan Braggs. "So whos the bigger person here?"

"You're nothing but trash." The guy says quickly.

"And I'm damn proud." Dan smiles.

I giggle as I see the unnamed guy walk away looking very confused.

Dan looks down at me, using two fingers to lift my chin to lock my eyes with his. "You alright?" He asks.

"Never been better, you meme."
