More Than Friends

Two boys, about the same age are best friends. Sounds normal right? Yeah, no.

Their friendship is strange, its more than platonic, but neither of them are calling it anything. They're sure that the other doesn't like him like they do. Normal friends give each other friendly pecks, hold hands, cuddle and that kind of thing, right?

The taller, jet haired boy reaches out for the younger one with the brown eyes and matching brown hair, something that he couldn't get enough of looking at. He finds his hand and they awkwardly fumble their fingers around until they're completely intertwined together.

They both blush, but that's normal for friends. Well maybe not but neither of them seem to care . They both enjoy the innocent, timid touches.

"How about we go and sit on the jungle gym?" The smaller boy, Dan suggests.

"Alright." The older, Phil says with a small smile, his pink blush lingering on his cheeks and threatening to stay there for however long he was going to be around Dan. He pulls him along beside him, keeping him close. Nobody was around, thankfully.

Phil was most defiantly in love with Dan, he was only Sixteen and maybe he didn't know what love was, but he was certain that Dan made him feel special.

Dan loved Phil as well, but how do you tell your possibly straight, slightly older friend that you love them. At school Phil was a complete womanizer, so why would he settle for Dan?

Dan also had a really big interest for philosophy, talking about the universe and the wonders and mysteries of life. He has always loved finding subliminal messages on TV and freaking himself the fuck out. Luckily he felt safe with Phil by his side.

The pair sit down at the top of a small climber, close as usual, their hands still locked in place. "What even is life?" Dan asks his trademark question. Every conversation starts like this.

"I'm not sure, I don't think anybody knows the answer to that." Phil explains, taking a quick glance at Dan.

"Someday, I'm gonna find the answer." Dan says hopefully, softly resting his head on Phil's shoulder, his hair tickling Phil's neck.

"I'm sure you will, your obsessed with that kind of thing, so It would be logical to try and find the meaning of life." Phil sounds, they speak quietly, not to disturb anybody that may be nearby. Its their way of subconsciously hiding from the world.

They continue to talk until it gets a bit dark. "Should we go?" Phil asks, rubbing his thumb over the back of Dan's hand.

"Just a little longer." Dan pleads, clutching onto Phil's hand a bit more.

They can just enjoy each others silence, nothing needs to be said, just small actions of affection between them is enough to keep them content.

Dan slowly takes Phil's hand up to his lips to kiss it repeatedly, just like he always does when they get the chance. "You're such a good friend," He says.

"You are too," Phil says almost disappointed to hear Dan use the 'F' word, although he has gotten used to it by now.

Now Phil takes a turn to kiss Dan's hand over and over again.

Dan stares at him in awe, making cute puppy dog eyes and a pout when Phil stops pecking his trembling hand. "Why are you shaking so much?" Phil asks with a grin.

Dan really does want to tell Phil his feelings, for all he knows Phil could like him as well. On the other hand he could just like him platonically and their friendship would be ruined.

But if he doesn't like me than Ill make our friendship work out the best I can, the awkwardness would pass over time. Once he rejects me I can move on.

"Um I-er," He starts, before he gets distracted by all of the cute, affectionate pecks that Phil is placing all over Dan's blushing face. He cant help but smile at all of the short little kisses.

The older boy skips his lips, in fear of being rejected, they had never actually kissed properly on the lips before, just once on the corners by accident. He ends the session of pecks with an eskimo kiss, nudging their noses together.

"What were you saying?" Phil pulls away, awkwardly playing with Dan's fingers.

"I uh, tell me if its weird or anything." He looks at their tangled fingers.

"What?"

"Is it bad if I have a crush on you? Its okay if you don't like me, I just don't want to ruin our friendship."

Phil bites back a wild smile. "Oh my goodness! I'm not the only one! I thought you would hate me if I told you that I like you, so yes its totally okay. The feelings are mutual." He exclaims.

Dan smiles widely, yet again another blush crawls up his neck and onto his cheeks. "Am I allowed to kiss you, Phil? Like for real?" He asks, his voice trembling.

"Please!" Phil almost screams.

All of a sudden everything seems so comfortable. Dan awkwardly shuffles towards Phil and hovers on his knees to lean against him. He places one hand on Phil's chest and the other on his warm cheek. He catches a glimpse of Phil's timid smile.

They press their foreheads and noses together, and all of a sudden everything else in the world disappears when their lips touch, giving both of them their first kiss.

He smiles into the kiss when he feels Phil's hand lightly touch his waist. Dan pulls away timidly, only to find Phil's other hand on the back of his neck bringing his to his lips again.

Dan gives Phil one last peck and they both sit there smiling.

Phil pulls Dan onto his lap and rests their foreheads and noses together, this time just to look into each others eyes.

"Will you please be my boyfriend?" Phil asks quietly, brushing against Dan's lips teasingly.

Dam smiles and pecks Phil's lips once again, nodding in response.

The two sit there in that position, picking up their latest conversation, and neither of them could be happier.
