"Okay, should I go with you or...?" Adam questioned when we arrived at the Big Machine Building. I looked over at him with a nervous smile on my face and shook my head."I'm doing this alone, okay?" He nodded his head before pulling me into his arms, burying his face in my shoulder. "I love you." I smiled when I pulled away from his hug to kiss his lips.
"Good luck, baby. I love you more." He waved to me as I walked away and into the building. As I stepped in, right in front of me was what I assumed was the receptionist. I stepped closer to her.
"Good afternoon! How may I help you?" The girl named Sierra, at least that's what her name tag said, greeted me enthusiastically.
"Hi, I'm here to see Scott Borchetta." I smiled at her.
"What's your name?" She questioned me.
"Taylor Swift." I told her and she nodded her head, smiling at me.
"He's waiting for you. Follow me." I followed her through the halls of busy people into the office that was the back of the room. "Mr. Borchetta, Taylor Swift is here for you." She announced and Scott appeared.
"Thank you, Sierra. Taylor, it's lovely to see you." He extended his hand and I shook it, smiling softly.
"You too." I said.
"Have a seat, please." He motioned to a chair in front of his desk as he went and sat down.
"So about this record deal..." I trailed off, nervous excitement bubbling inside me as I thought about my dream coming true. It was all happening so fast and I didn't want to create false hope.
"Right. Like I told you, I think you have a great voice and I want to sign you. I just need to know more about you." He explained. "For example do you write songs? Things like that."
"I do write songs. I wouldn't be a singer if I wasn't a songwriter first. That's something I'm very protective about because if I ever get to be in the music industry I don't want to sing about someone else's feeling." I spoke easily. Talking about what I loved doing was something I could ramble on and on.
"I think you are going to be in the music industry, Taylor." He nodded his head, smiling at me. "Now I'd love to hear some of your songs if you don't mind." He requested and I got excited over it. The only people I ever showed my songs to was Adam and occasionally Karlie.
"Do you have a guitar somewhere? I didn't bring mine." I laughed slightly and he stood up and picked up a guitar that was hanging on the wall. "Thank you." I said as he handed me the guitar. I started playing songs I had written during these past weeks since I had a lot of inspiration for it then I moved on to songs I had written years ago about Jake and everything that I went through. I didn't bother singing songs I wrote in high school because who would want to hear a 23 year old singing songs about high school and crushes. I stopped singing one lay song and I looked up to find Scott grinning brightly.
"That was incredible, Taylor. I believe you'll go far in the music industry to be fully honest with you. You write your own songs and there's not enough people in the music industry that do that these days. I think you're crazy talented." He stated. "I'm signing you without a doubt. I just need to get the papers and give you some time to read through everything and think things through." He smiled and my heart jumped when he said those words. Did he really think that? He's singing me. It's coming true, all I've wanted was a change and this guy was giving me one. I had never felt prouder of myself because of that. "If you could just give me your email, I'd send you everything you need to know and then whatever you decide you can come over here and you can sign everything." He told me.
"Thank you so so much! Oh my god!" I laughed, giving him a hug. "Sorry I'm a hugger." I shrugged still smiling. I wrote down my email on a paper and then left his office. I immediately grabbed my phone and dialed Adam's number. He picked up after a tone as I jumped up and down with excitement outside the building.
"Hey, T. How did it go?" He asked and I could hear the smile laced in his voice.
"It went awful, he thinks I'm not talented." I lied, trying not to laugh.
"Oh no, babe. Are you serious?" He sounded so defeated, it was adorable.
"Fuck no. I'm getting a record deal. He's signing me, babe." I yelled out, giggling. The thought made me want to run around New York, telling everyone.
"That's my girl! You're an idiot, you almost gave me heart attack." He laughed. "Are you coming home or do you want me to meet you?" He questioned.
"I'm coming home. I'll see you soon!" I told him before hanging up and I got in the subway so I could go home. When I arrived, I entered the keys and opened the door to find my very smiley best friend in front of me with his arms open. I ran to him, holding him close to me.
"I'm so proud of you, Tay!" He murmured, pressing his lips to my head before I looked up at him smiling. "I love you so much and I'm so happy for you. You have no idea baby." He shook his head, grinning as he bent his head down to kiss my lips which had been missing his for two hours.
"This is so amazing!" I sighed as his forehead was on mine and he was gazing into my eyes. "I feel like I'm dreaming!"
"It's real life though." He said, stroking my cheek. The tides are changing.
