Chapter Twelve: Max
Seeing your body badly wounded isn’t the best site you want to see. I have bandage on my head, glass marks on my face and my arm and legs are in a cast. I’m a total wreck.
I tried to return to my body by lying on top of it and thinking that I’m whole with it again but it didn’t work. How can I go back to my own body? I wonder if there are anyone here who is like me. I could really use some help.
While I was thinking about this, I heard someone fighting outside. I checked it out and found Hazel and Cody. My sister looked upset. What did this jerk do to my sister to make her upset?
“I can’t believe you’re not helping me with this. It’s crazy, I know, but I’m not just going to stand here and wait for next week……I have to see him” she said and then she walked away.
I wondered what she was referring to but what matters most is that Hazel wanted to see me. She misses me. She hates Cody now, so I guess I’m still her number one. Goodbye Cody, I thought. I have to get back to my body soon because my sister needs me.
I followed her out of the hospital. Her phone rang and she picked it up.
“Hello” she said. “I’m fine….. You don’t have to worry…….I know” she sighed before she continued “Hey Jill, I need your help…..I have a plan…..No, this is not about Tracey’s party, this is about Max” she stopped, giving time for Jill to realize that this plan was a serious matter to Hazel. “Can you help me out?....Thanks….All I need is some distraction……yes, just enough time for me to see him…..That’s a great idea, so can you contact them?.....Thanks Jill, you’re the best……bye”
I don’t know who would be the distraction but seeing my sister smile means a good thing. Maybe her plan will work and she’ll finally see me. I can’t wait for that to happen.
While I was thinking about this, I heard someone called my name. I turned around and found this old man standing before me. His hair is as white as snow, wrinkles on his face, a fisherman hat on his head and big hands. I know I saw him somewhere, I just can’t remember. The weirdest thing was, he was looking at me, like he could really see me. He was staring directly at me then he spoke, “Hi Max”
