My Dearest Batman

Chapter 9: Found Without Finding

Catwoman walked slowly and cautiously down the creepily abandoned hallway. At least what was thought to be an abandoned hallway. She checked every room as she slowly made her way down the quiet hall. As she turned the corner three men wearing clown masks grabbed her and covered her mouth and nose with a towel covered in chloroform.

She passed out and the men dragged her limp body down the hall quietly. Then on the other side of the building as Batman was about to turn the corner of the hallway he had previously surveyed, he stood quietly and listened. He heard the muffled breathes of a person around the corner. He turned the corner quickly and elbowed the man in the face. Two more men came and he fought them off until they were unresponsive or got smart and decided not to get back up.

The blank TVs in the abandoned building came on and on the screens was the same strange man he had seen before. The man said,"Well well well. You must be wondering if your little girlfriend is okay. I have your answer. The screen switched showing Catwoman dangling over a pool of acid with her arms wrapped in chains. She wasn't aware of what was happening. Batman was wondering if she was even still alive.

The man continued,"It's been said that you can be found without finding. That's exactly what happened with your girlfriend, and now we're going to play a game of hide and seek. I'm hiding and your seeking, but here's the thing." He pauses leaving Batman confused and worried then he continues. "You see your girlfriend is hanging over a pool of acid and she has no way of getting loose from the chains, but every minute the chain is lowered. You have to make a decision. You can find me or find her. Your decision of who you find first will define her fate."

The man creepily smiles and then the screens go black. "What should I do?" Batman says under his breath.
