When We Meet Again

"Come on Cass, your gonna be late!" I heard my mom yell from the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh please mom, when am I ever late?" I replied sarcastically.

My mom and I have this sister like relationship, her being a young mother and all helped I guess.

"Ill be there in 5, wait out front for me, kay?" I said in a hurried voice as I ran from my closet to the mirror one last time. Why is being a 13 year old girl so hard in the mornings?

This is how it goes: Alarm set for 6:45am, when you actually don't get out of bed till 5 after 7:00, then you walk like a zombie to your closet and try to pick out an outfit, then you look in the mirror and realize the horror which is your face and hair so you get side tracked... wait why am I telling you this? You probably already know right? Okay... back to the present time.

Five minutes later I am rushing out of my house with my bag over my shoulder and my flats in my hand; jumping on one foot trying to pull the shoe onto my other foot. I run into the car, finding my brother and sister were already buckled in. I went to the front seat beside mom, as she took off down the road.

"Oh crap" I said angrily as slammed my hand against the dashboard.

"Calm down Cass, what is it?" my mom said with a chuckled in a rapid tone.

"Mascara!" I screamed, "I forgot the mascara!".

"NOT MASCARA! Anything but mascara! Mom stop the car this is a real emergency!!" Max yelled mocking me.

"Shut up Max." I snarled at him.

As you can see I am in a mid life crises right now, I can't go to school with eyelashes that aren't mascaraed... that's not a word... but you know what I mean.

"Take a chill pill kiddo, I gotcha", my mom says as she pulls out a fresh tube of Platinum Noir Sheek Mascara.

"OMG MOM! YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!" I shrieked in excitement!

"Thank god, I was about to have a heart attack!" my 7 year old sister laughed as she tried to copy my brothers comment from earlier.

As mom pulls up to Max and I's middle school we hop out and say our goodbyes for the day.

"I have track practice till 4:00 and Cassie has soccer till 4:15 alright?"

Max said as we slipped out of the car.

"Do we have to walk-..." I started off before my mother cut me off...

"I'll be waiting behind the soccer field so Max you go watch your sisters game for 15 minutes then come find me." she said as she backed up the car to go drop my sister off at her school.

"Max wont have a problem with that. Kendra's playing forward today." I teased.

I'm not sure she heard me because she was already half way out of the parking lot... but Max sure did. As he started to blush he punched my shoulder and started cursing at me under his breath. The bell rang and we went inside.

Max being a year older then me, he went to the upper hall as I started out for the lower hall. We go to our lockers and that's usually the last time I see him during the day. First period bell rang and I went down the hall meeting up with my bestfriend Maggie along the way, heading to history. Wahhoo...

As the day went on not much happened. Well not up until 4th period, the first period after lunch. The announcement bell rang and then the secretary called out a message over the P.A system...

"Max and Cassie Parks please report to the office immediately". I was in French at the time and my whole class started "oooohhh" and "awwwing" as I was heading out into the hall making my way down to the office.

I didn't really think anything of it, only that Max probably got in trouble or we were both nominated for the athletic award. I couldn't help think that because those are the only two reasons we ever get called down to the office.

So when I saw my mother sitting there in the office chair crying and the secretary comforting her I was very surprised and worried.

"What the heck hap-..." Max shot out as he barged into the office doors after me.

"There's something I need to tell you children. And its not anything to get exited about." The principle said firmly as he made his way towards us.
