Ash POV
I heard crying and shouting. I frowned and tried opening my eyes but they wouldn't open. Did Zach break up with a girl? I'm trying to sleep! I tried rolling over but groaned in pain. My left arm throbbed, it felt like I couldn't breath and my whole body stung like lemon juice was being poured into fresh wounds. Did I do something stupid last night? God.. Did Toby get me drunk?! I'm gonna kill him!
"Ashley?!" I felt someone grab my hand and sit on the side of my bed. Why can't people go away!?
"Ashley, baby can you open your eyes? Please?" I tried opening them but it was like they were glued shut. That's odd. Maybe that's a sign for me to go back to sleep. I felt my body slowly slouch and my hand to go limp in whoever was holding it.
"Ash! Don't go back to sleep!" Too late. I fell into darkness seconds later.
Drake POV
Damn it's hard trying to fight someone AND calm down crying girls.
"You can't come in here! You ran her out of the house you fucker!" I shouted at Toby. I heard groaning and turned to see my broken girl frowning and trying to move. I slammed the door on Toby and ran to her bed, gently taking the hand that wasn't attached to her shattered arm.
"Ashley?!" I looked down at her, waiting for her to open her eyes. Doctors said she shouldn't wake up for days since her body needed time to heal but I guess they were wrong!
"Ashley, baby can you open your eyes? Please?" I whispered softly but her body was slouching meaning she was about to fall asleep.
"Ash don't go back to sleep!" Too late. Her hand has loosened and I set it back down on the bed. Shit! I stood up and looked at all her injuries. She had a broken leg, broken hip, broken ribs, broken wrist with a dislocated shoulder that won't go back in and a bad concussion. Doctor had to put her in coma so her body could heal. I looked to Zach staring at the floor once again. He hasn't moved since she was put in this room. I sat back in my chair and tried calming down some of the girls on the cheerleading team but they continued to sob. I hate dealing with crying girls.
Ash POV
4 months later
Stupid bright light. People disrupting my sleep. Can't a girl sleep anymore?!
"I know you're upset Zach but we've done all we can. It's up to her body now if she'll ever wake up. If she doesn't wake up in the next week, we'll have to let her go. I'm sorry." I heard footsteps walk away. If who doesn't wake up next week? Why is Zach so upset?
"She'll wake up Zach, don't worry about it. You know she's too stubborn to not wake up." I heard another voice. Is that Drake? Did someone get hurt?
"But what if she doesn't Drake? She's the last family I have, I can't lose her." I heard crying again. Wait.. I'm the one dying?! What the fuck happened?!
"Ashley? C'mon baby sis, you have to wake up." I felt Zach grab my hand, tears were going down his cheeks and hitting my fingers.
"I promise I won't make you do any chores or listen to any rules." I smiled at that. Yeah right. The house would be a mess if I didn't do some of the cleaning and for the rules, I rarely listen anyway.
"Zach! She's smiling! Keep talking to her!" I felt Drake grab my other hand.
"Hey baby girl! Why don't you open those pretty eyes and say hi to us? We have a lot to tell you. Can you believe Zach is over here crying like a girl?" My smile grew a little more but my eyes still wouldn't open. Is that supposed to be normal?
"I have a right to cry, don't I, Ash? Drake cried the other day!"
"I did not! I had something in my eye." My hands twitched in theirs before slowly squeezing them, letting them know I was listening. Next I tried opening my eyes but all I could do for right now was flutter them.
"That's right baby, open your eyes." My right eye opened seconds before my left, but as soon as my vision cleared I could see two males smiling down at me.
"Atta girl! I knew you'd wake up today!" Drake bent down and gently kissed my hand.
"Hi boys." I whispered in a hoarse voice. Zach quickly went into action and grabbed a cup with a long straw but Drake had to help me sit up just a little so I didn't choke on the water. Once I felt like my throat wasn't made of sandpaper, I looked up at them and smiled.
"So, how much did I miss?"
Toby POV
I sat outside the hospital everyday for the past 4 months, hoping she'd come out. But it hasn't happened. Of course it hasn't, it's my fault she's in there. I jumped to conclusions and thought she was cheating on me with Drake.. He does deserve her more than me though.
I sighed and leaned against my car and stared at the front doors. I stood up straight when I saw Drake walk out with Zach behind him. They're laughing. They've never done that before. I looked behind Zach and a nurse is wheeling Ash out! She's awake! I started walking to her but the glare Drake gave me told me not to. I looked away before Ash could see me and walked back to my car and got in.
I can still see her from my window. I can't believe she's awake! And laughing. And if she's going home today, that means everything is better. Now I just needed to find a way to talk to her without her two bodyguards.
