On Saturday evening, as the sun began to set, Naomi and Tae stood inside Lucky's, observing the few people inside and outside the shop.
Earlier that morning, Keith had informed her that he was organizing a small block party to celebrate the shop's 5th anniversary. She wondered why he hadn't mentioned it yesterday, but he explained that it was a last-minute decision, so she pushed it aside.
Many attendees of the party had asked her if she was doing tattoos today. Politely declining, she mentioned that she wasn't in the mood to work and simply wanted to enjoy herself. Her mind had been preoccupied with thoughts and questions about Leandrew, missing him more than she had the previous day. Therefore, attending the block party was only a temporary solution to her troubled thoughts.
However, The response to her artwork was remarkable. She accepted her flowers beautifully and expressed gratitude for taking Leandrew's advice and taking her talents seriously. He had always provided her with valuable guidance and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
Naomi, slightly tipsy from the Dussé in her cup, had been convinced by Tae to take a few shots with him. So, she wasn't the only one feeling a bit tipsy.
Tae and Naomi were vibing along to the blasting music as they passed a blunt back and forth. Tae was texting his boyfriend while he was drunk.
"If you need to go, Tae, go. I'm going to leave shortly anyway," she said, tipsily, as she inhaled the smoke. She felt more cross-faded than she had a few moments ago.
"Yeah, Nai, I think I'm going out. He's testing me, thinking I won't come see about em," he said with an attitude. He made her laugh at his obsession, but she understood because she felt the same way.
"Okay, I'll walk you out there," she said, standing up and grabbing her clutch bag along with her cup and water bottle. He stood up beside her and grabbed her hand, leading them to the exit door.
"I'd love to do your hair next week too," he said, turning to face her as they stood in front of the shop. People were gathered around, chatting and laughing, eagerly waiting for their food to be served. Since his Uber was already a few minutes away, he could have a chance to talk to her until then.
She felt like she was on clouds.
They waited for Taes Uber to arrive and engaged in a simple conversation before a tall, light-skinned man approached Naomi, giving her googly eyes.
"Hey mama , i love how you are looking . " he said, towering over her and biting his lip. He made her turn up her face before dismissing him, causing Devontae to laugh loudly.
