Naomi wiped the green soap off her client's arm as she analyzed her work. The client had requested a simple rose flower tattoo on her forearm. In the last five months, her life had undergone a dramatic transformation. She had moved from the bustling city to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and had become a full-time tattoo artist and painter on the side while taking art classes.

Five months ago, when she decided to leave, it was after a heated argument with her boyfriend, Leandrew. They had said hurtful things to each other, only to hurt one another. Naomi had lost herself and didn't know who she was anymore. But now, things were different. She had managed to get away and find a sense of peace. She had come to understand how love works—it could make you feel so good, but it could also be the very thing that hurts you the most.

She had been focusing on herself, her health, and her life. She realized that Leandrew was sick and needed help, but she couldn't provide it to him. When she mentioned it to him that night, he went ballistic, wrecking the entire house and headbutting her in the face. That was the last straw for her.

She wouldn't let anyone continuously abuse her, especially someone who claimed to love her. Although she was madly in love with him and still was, he had to get treatment for her to even consider coming back to him.

Her life in Florida was great. She had met a guy named Devontae, also known as Tae, a famous Florida hairstylist while she was at work because he came in for a tattoo. He was a homosexual and had jaded a long-term partner named Chris.

Devontae had been doing her hair since she had done his tattoo five months ago after a week of her starting her job at Lucky's Tattoo Parlor, where she now works.

She even resumed talking to Kionnie. Tae helped her realize her mistake of blaming Kionnie for Leandrew's actions. Kionnie explained that she had witnessed how happy he made her and didn't want to interfere with that, which Naomi understood. They had a good relationship, and Naomi was grateful. However, Naomi noticed that Kionnie never brought up Leandrew, unlike how she hoped she would at times, because she was still in a very committed relationship with Leon.

She was just glad that she was in a better place than she was five months ago, because she didn't know that person. She had more than enough money to establish herself in the new city, thanks to Leandrew and her old job, of course.

Naomi couldn't deny that she missed Leandrew; she missed him terribly and often had dreams about him. She missed his smell, his touch, his mean faces, and his lovemaking. It had been almost seven months since she had been touched, since the day Kiley died, and she knew she only wanted one person to please her.
