Lexi's POV
I quietly walked into the house only to hear yelling in the kitchen. "LEO, HOW DARE YOU SKIP SCHOOL!" I could hear Mr. Daniels shout. He got mad at only the important things. And he always calmed down fast.
He must have heard the door open and close cause he piped into the hall. "Lexi, did you skip too?" He quietly asked me, rubbing his temples. I looked down. "Yes, it was all my idea, you shouldn't punish Leo." Mr. Daniels continues to rub his temple and took a deep breath. He mumbled something then spoke up. "Follow me." Then we walked into the kitchen.
He motioned for me to sit down next to Leo. So I did. I was given a glass of water. I slowly sipped from the glass but was cautious. I knew I was going to jump if Mr. Daniels started to yell again. For what seemed like a long time, we just sat there. Leo and I just glanced at each other. We knew we were both in a heap of trouble. I knew this would happen but I had to take the risk. I need to open the letter that was in my bag more than anything right now.
"I can only think of one thing to do with you guys right now," Mr. Daniels said. "I'm going to have to ground you guys. You are not allowed out of this house besides school. Understood?!" Mr. Daniels seemed so sure on his final decision. Meanwhile, I could feel the heat build up in my face. "YOu can't gound us... well, at least not Leo! It was all me! PLeAse!" I shouted at him. "No, sorry Lexi, but it was Leo's decision to follow you," "NO! it WASN't!" I shouted even louder.
Just as I reached my breaking point. so did the glass behind me. I heard a small crack. I turned around to run off to our room. Just as I took my first step, the glasses on the table exploded! Glass cut across my arm and face.
I stopped just for a second, to check out the damage the glasses had done. Just for a second. The glasses shattered all over. Everybody had a cut on them, Looked like I was the most cut up though. I just turned back around and went straight to Leo's and my room, tears now silently falling down my face.
Leo's POV
The glass just exploded! There was no explanation. All I know is that Lexi was mad. Really mad.
Tried to hide my face from the glass. I saw the start crack so I had some time to get ready.
I felt the glass sink into my skin. It hurt. By the time I was out of shock mode, I looked up from my lap. I saw my dad standing there, shocked. Nobody spoke. I got up to go talk to Lexi.
"Wait!" My dad urgently whispered. I looked at him. He had glass all over his front. I could tell he was the worst damaged in the room. He had it all over his torso, and was also soaking wet, from where Lexi unknowingly flung the water at him. "Let's let her calm down a bit. We don't want another accident today. Come on, lets clean up." My dad took me to his office.
Ever since I was a little boy, I had always been scared of my dads office. I still am. My father is a doctor, but he goes to the patients house. So he keeps everything here at home. I am scared of almost everything in a doctors office.
My dad walked me over to his desk and started searching through his bag. When I sat down, I saw him pull out some tweesers and gause. He motioned for me to give him my arm so I did. As he pulled the tiny glass shards out of my arm, I flinched. But no matter what, I couldnt' stop thinking of Lexi.
I wanted to go talk to her. Tell her it was alright. Explain to her what she really is. Maybe then she could try to control it.
"Hey dad," I said. "Ya," he answered, tying up my gauze. "I was thinking, we should tell Lexi. You know, what she is." I said, lowering my voice for the last part. "You see, the thing about that is, we were thinking about telling her for a while. We were just waiting for the right time. AND, we were thinking that you... should tell her, " he said pausing on the last part.
I looked down. I knew it was true. I should tell her. Maybe she would freak out less. On the other hand, she may freak out more. If she knows that I knew, she would get furious.
"I don't think that is a good idea, I said in a shaky voice. My dad gave me a glare. "And why is that?" He said. "It's just," I said getting up, "Lexi is different. She is kind and nice, but has own way of doing everything. I still can't believe she is a bender. Please don't make me tell her. Have Jack or Maria tell her. I can't lose my best friend."
I was not right up next to my dad. He looked down. There was a long period of silence. My father just continued picking glass out of his arms.
"I get it, Leo, I really do. Maybe you should all tell her together. Would that work!" My dad gave me a look that told me I had no choice. I looked down in defeat and began to walk out.
"Leo, wait," my dad called. I turned around. "Can you tell Lexi that I need to see her... Alone." I nodded my head and went to my room to get Lexi.
