Lexi's POV

I sat on Jack's bed with my mouth wide open. What the heck is a bender?! I wanted to scream. What the heck was going on. Were they playing me?

"What the heck is a bender!" I shouted. Jack sighed, almost like he has been through this before. Then Maria bent over as whispered something into Jack's ear. They kept talking for a few minutes. Leo come over and sat on the bed next to me.

"It's a lot to take in. Believe me, I know," Leo said. I felt completely confused. "How would you know. It's not like your a bender, are you?" I said, being sure to add some attitude into my words. "No! Believe me, I'm not. They told me all of this a few days ago. Like, Sunday night, I think it was. Yeah!" Leo said. "After we opened the letter," he said. He had a certain tone in his voice, like he wanted me to understand and not get mad that he was told and I wasn't.

"Oh," was all I could manage to say. I wasn't mad, just surprised that I wasn't told. Turning back to Jack and Maria, I spoke. "Can somebody please tell me what a bender is?!" I semi-shouted. Jack looked calmly at me. "A bender, just as we told Leo, is somebody who can bend the elements. Do you know what those are?" he asked me. I nodded my head.

All of a sudden, as if a bell was rung, something was triggered. I have heard about this before. In a dream, I believe. There was this man. He was old and seemed very wise. I always just stood there and listened to him. He told me I was a bender and that in time I would figure out what that is. He also, time and time again, would say that I would have many sacrifices to make. That they would not be easy and would involve the whole team. I have had the dream many times. I decided not to tell anybody about the creepy old man in the dream just yet.

Jack must have picked up sorta what I was thinking. When he spoke, I knew exactly what was coming. "What do you already know?" He asked. I decided to lie. "Well, you just old me the basic. I can bend fire, earth, water, and air. I had this dream, though. And in it, there was this man," I said. I looked around the room to see how interested everybody was. Jack kept his poker face, Maria looked surprised, but Leo looked down, hiding his face from view.

Then I continued. "He told me, this old man in my dreams, that I could also bend mind. He also told me that I had a whole team, and that life wouldn't be easy," I finished up.

After what seemed like forever, Leo stood up and spoke. "I've had a similar dream. Ever since the earthquake. The man tells me that I may dying saving the one closest to me. That my power is dangerous. That it can easily be let out of control."

Jack and Maria looked like they just heard about the crime of the century.

"How about," Jack said, turning to Maria, "you take Lexi and tell her everything." Jack then shoved a huge stack of paper at Maria. Maria, catching on, turned to me. "Let's go to my room. I think Jack wants some guy time," Maria said giggling. She grabbed my wrist and lead me out of the room.

I turned around and waved at Leo just as the door closed. We went into Maria's room. Honestly, as soon as I walked in, I wish I had stayed in Jack's room. Her room was baby blue on two walls and bright pink on the other two. She also had tons One Direction posters all over her walls. She also had a bulletin board with tons of pictures of the four of us from kindergarten.

"What do you think of the room?" Maria said happily. "It's um..." I stumbled on my words, not knowing what to say. "Cool!" I finished, giving Maria a huge smile. She smiled even bigger and motioned to her bed. I sat down.

"So, you know the basics," Maria said, sitting on the floor. I didn't feel comfortable sitting on the bed alone so I slid down onto the floor across the room from Maria. She started laying out all of these papers.
