Jack's POV
I walked into the house and heard some hushed voices talking in the kitchen. Most likely my mom and sister. They were always whispering about everything. It is very uncommon that I know something that Maria doesn't.
It was only 3:20, so I decided to head up to my room. I had a small amount of homework to finish.
When I walked into my room, I plopped my book bag on my bed and sat down and did my homework. All of my school stuff was already on my desk cause I knew that we weren't going to school today. One of the many helpful things that Leo told me last night.
I was done with the work in about 5 minutes. So I for bored and decided to clean my room. It wasn't really that messy, just I had nothing better to do. No sooner than I sat on my bed, done, the phone rang downstairs. I guess it's for my dad. Almost every phone call is now a days. That's the only reason I got my own phone. Do I can still talk on the phone at all with my old friends.
Then, my bedroom door opened. I was about to yell at the person for not knocking. But that's before I saw it was my dad.
"Hey dad. Who's on the phone?" "Mr. Daniels. He has a question for you." My dad said. Then he handed me the phone.
I pressed it up to my ear and spoke.
"Hey, what's up?" "It's Lexi, she's not here, and I didn't know if you have seen or heard from her?" He said in a rush.
Lexi was missing. This isn't good. So many things could happen, and about 200 of those ways didn't end well.
"I'm sorry. I haven't hear from her. I'll let you know if I do. Do you know if she ran away, or what?" "We believe she ran away. We figured she would come right to your house. You guys are really the only friends she has, other than Leo," Mr. Daniels said. As he spoke, you could hear the sorrow in his voice. "Well," I said, "let me know if she turns up." "Thanks, same to you. Just shoot me a text if you have to. Bye." "Bye
I handed the phone back to my dad and he gave me a smile and left. No sooner than he was out the door, did my phone ring.
I ran over to my phone. I honestly don't remember the last time I got a phone call.
"Hello,"I said. "Hello, is this Jack?" "Ya, may I ask who this is?" "It's Lexi, don't you have caller ID?" She asked with a grin. I chuckled. "Ya, but your number isn't in there yet. So what's up?" There was silence.
"I ran away... From Leo's house. "Where are you," I said, trying to sound surprised. "Um," she said, "I'm outside your house."
"What!" I semi- shouted. "Sorry, I just don't know where else to go. Can you please come and get me?" She asked. I sighed. "Sure, give me 5 minutes, then come around to the front door. Alright?" "Ya, see you then." "See ya." Then she hung up.
I sighed and decided that I should first contact Mr. Daniels. I decided to call him. It would take less time. So I dialed up his number and waited. In a matter of seconds, there was an answer.
"Hello," Mr. Daniels hurly said. "Hey, it's me Leo. Lexi called me. I'm going to let her in. He sounded like something was really bothering her," I said quickly. There was a small amount of silence until he spoke again.
"Jack, can you please take the phone downstairs and put me on speaker. So that the whole family can hear me," he said. "Sure," I said already half way down the stairs.
When I got downstairs and gathered everybody, Andput the phone on speaker, Mr. Daniels waisted no time speaking.
"Alright, we need to tell Lexi that she's a bender. She blew up a glass just a bit ago. Would you guys mind fixing her up? Anyway, I think you guys should tell her. She needs to know. Especially cause of what Zach said. Even though we don't completely know what of age means, we know its dangerous and she needs to be ready. Alright?"
Everybody agreed. We decided that I should tell her after I fix her up. I would pretend to sneak her into the house, and then she would tell me whatever. Then I would tell her everything.
So, it had been about 5 minutes, so I went and got the door. Everybody was outside on the deck playing a game. When I saw Lexi, I couldn't help but gasp.
She had blood all over her left arm and cheek. Also, her clothes and bag were all tattered. That couldn't be good. Seeing as she was only out for no more than an hour.
I let her in and quietly led her up to my room. When she was comfy on my bed, I left to go get some bandages and tweezers. When I arrived, she was laying down on the bed.
"Do you need anything?" I said. Lexi jumped, and then spoke, "no, but I can't thank you enough for doing this." "No problem, but you owe me big!" She chuckled and nodded her head.
"So, how did this happen?" I asked motioning to her arm. She looked down, but stayed silent. I let her just sit there. I started taking the glass out of her arm. She flinched every once in a while, but other than that didn't do anything.
"If I tell you something, do you promise not to tell anybody?" Lexi spoke up for the first time. I nodded and continued to work.
"Well, a glass exploded for no reason." She said. I tried to show surprise. "What?! How did that happen?" "No clue," she said, "all that I know is that I was really mad. I think... I think that I had something to do with it." She slowly and quietly said.
I stayed quiet. I didn't know what to say.
She bent her head down to look at me. "Well? Please tell me I'm being ridiculous!" I shook my head. "I'm sorry," I said, "I can't do that. I think you did make that glass explode." I tied up the gauze and looked at her. She looked taken aback. Confused.
She stood up and walked over to my desk. She needed time to think. She then spok faster than I thought. "
What exactly does that mean?" she said. "I mean, you controlled the water in the glass. The glass couldn't take it and busted." I said.
"How?!" she asked, raising her voice a bit. "Look, please, before I explain." I said. I stood up and motioned to the bed. After Lexi sat down. I started to talk again.
"OK, you have to promise not to interrupt me. Alright." She nodded. I went over to the door. I looked outside and there was Maria. Right on time. "come on in," I whispered to her.
When Lexi saw Maria, she seemed surprised. "What are you doing here?" "Don't worry, we are here to explain everything to you," Maria stated nervously.
