EPILOGUE PART 1

One Year Later

Mikha Lim slammed the car door hard enough to make three people on the sidewalk look over.

She didn't notice.

Or maybe she did and simply didn't give a shit.

She stood beside her car for a moment, jaw clenched, phone trapped in one hand so tightly that her knuckles had gone pale. Her red hair was longer now, falling past her shoulders in slightly disheveled waves, and the sunglasses pushed onto the top of her head did absolutely nothing to disguise the expression on her face.

She looked like she wanted to strangle someone.

Possibly multiple someones.

Her phone buzzed.

Mikha stared at it.

Declined the call.

It immediately rang again.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

She answered.

"What?"

A pause.

Her expression somehow darkened further.

"No. Don't give me that. You told me Friday."

Another pause.

"I know what you said. That's why I'm pissed."

She started walking toward the café, weaving through pedestrians with enough aggression that people instinctively moved out of her path.

"No, because I specifically asked you if there was going to be a problem and you said—" Mikha stopped outside the café entrance and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Okay. You know what? I can't do this right now."

She listened.

"No."

Another pause.

"Monday isn't good enough."

Her voice cracked slightly on the last word.

That seemed to irritate her even more.

She lowered her voice.

"I needed it this weekend."

Whatever the person on the other end said did absolutely nothing to soothe her.

"Just—fix it. Please."

Mikha ended the call.

For several seconds, she simply stood there.

One year.

One whole year had passed since the night their friends had finally cornered them into admitting what everyone apparently already knew.

A lot could happen in a year.

People changed.

Relationships changed.

Things that once felt impossible could become ordinary.

And things that once felt permanent—

Mikha shut her eyes.

"Fuck."

She shoved the café door open.

⸻

Colet had already secured a table near the back.

Of course she had.

She sat with an iced coffee in front of her, sunglasses perched on her head and her phone in one hand. She glanced up when Mikha approached.
