(Longbottom Manor)
Frank entered the sunroom. His wife was there looking out the window. His breath hitched at the sight. Even now his wife was still the most beautiful woman in the world to him. The sun seemed to agree because it bathed her in warm light and it made it look like she was glowing.
'How did I ever get so lucky to have both her and Neville?' He wondered.
"I can feel you staring." Alice said, turning to give him a smile.
"I cannot help myself." He smiled back.
She rolled her eyes. "Stop it." She said.
"I will once you stop looking like a goddess." He charmingly told her.
"Stop." She blushed.
"I told you I can't." He went over and kissed her.
She rolled her eyes once more. Her face was still red from that last comment. He wrapped his arms around her and looked out the window.
"What were you thinking about?" He asked.
"Everything we missed thanks to Dumbledore." She admitted.
"It still gives me nightmares." He agreed.
"Thank Merlin for Harry. Who knows if we would have ever been able to regain our sanity." She said.
"Probably never. Dumbledore sure tried to make sure of that." He bitterly said.
"He's gone." She reminded him.
"Good." He was happy about that.
"Yes it is." She said.
"I love you." He kissed the top of her head.
"I love you too." She snuggled back into him.
Neither talked for a moment. Their minds drifted as they thought about the past, present, and future. They had never imagined this would be their life. They were friends with Severus Snape and he was family to their son. They remembered the man from their years at Hogwarts. He was a loner whose only friend had been Lily Potter until he made a mistake. Then he started hanging out with Lucius Malfoy and his friends.
They had seen the pain and guilt in his eyes every time he looked at Lily. That was until she started dating James Potter. The looks turned to looks of betrayal. She started dating the man that had bullied her once best friend. Then she went on to marry him and had a son. Severus went on to become a death eater.
That was why it was a shock to learn that Severus had brewed the potion to restore their sanity. He helped Harry Potter. He loved Harry. He loved Neville. Never in a million years would they have believed let alone imagine any of that.
The potion master was a stable figure in the boy's life and it made the Longbottoms happy and grateful. He went on and finally found someone that finally loved the dour man the way he deserved. He married her and now had five children. Children that Alice and Frank loved. They were also named the godparents. A shock but it made them happy.
Then there were the Delacours. They had helped the boys accept their creatures. They even adopted an abandoned naga and then had twins. The three kids loved coming over. Mostly for all the snacks and treats they would get. Alice was now famous for her cookies.
Frank had been happy to see Fay again. She was a wonderful woman. She even helped him through the loss of his father. With Fay was her son and surprisingly Harry Potter. Even more surprising was that he was a neko.
The boy was definitely the child of Lily and James. He had his father's looks and mischievous behavior. He also had his mum's temper and personality. His art lined multiple walls in their house. He always had something for them.
He was like a little brother to Neville. Ironic because Neville was the same age as Harry. They protected and supported each other. The two were inseparable. He had truly become like a son to them. It was wonderful seeing her godson happy.
Lucas helped Neville with the greenhouse and now they were partners. It was wonderful to see. Sure they were sad that their child wasn't interested in becoming an auror like them but he was happy and that is all that mattered. They spent days learning about plants and were able to keep a conversation going. Lucas was a master in his field. The conversations Neville and he had were on another level entirely.
When Harry and Lucas finally had kids they were spoiled by everyone. Alice and Frank became their grandparents and helped to spoil them. They always left with treats and toys. It never failed to make Harry and Lucas laugh. They wouldn't change it for the world.
The Malfoys had become friends with them. Not close friends but still friends. It was bizarre at first. Neither had expected Lucius Malfoy to be a spy. He had helped to take down a monster. The two were very grateful. It didn't erase the torment Lucius and Narcissa had done during their school years. Severus only ever attacked the Maurarders. He didn't take his anger out on anyone unless they attacked first.
Both Lucius and Narcissa believed they were better than everyone else. Those that didn't follow them were tormented. They always used either nasty spells or ones that would embarrass their victims. Remembering the past never failed to fill the senior Malfoys with disgust and guilt. They hated what their parents had raised them to be. They were very thankful to have changed. Alice and Frank were happy they had grown up and changed.
Neville even found a mate. A lovely fairy named Caroline. She made their son very happy. They had gotten married a year before Harry and Lucas. They even had kids that the two Longbottoms spoiled and helped to take care of. Life was great and they always thanked Harry for that. They retired and moved to a smaller house near their son. They hoped nothing ever changed or endangered their peaceful lives.
