By the time I pulled up outside Korbin's house, I had already changed my mind about going inside approximately six times.
I sat in the passenger seat for a few seconds after the car stopped, staring at the front door.
Eight o'clock.
We had agreed on eight. We were supposed to finish Mrs. Greene's project tonight.
Actually finish it.
No excuses. No distractions. No arguing.
And, most importantly, no getting physical.
That last one was probably going to be the hardest.
I sighed and grabbed my bag.
This was ridiculous.
Korbin and I couldn't stand each other half the time.
We argued over everything.
Who was right. Who started something. Who was more annoying. Who got the last word.
And somehow, underneath all of that, there was this other thing neither of us wanted to admit.
We liked each other.
At least, I was starting to realize that I liked him.
Which was inconvenient because Korbin was probably the most irritating person I'd ever met.
I opened the car door and stepped outside.
The evening air was cooler than I'd expected. I adjusted my bag over my shoulder and walked toward the house. His parents were still gone for their convention, which meant it was just going to be us again.
That thought made my stomach flip.
I hated how easily Korbin could make me nervous.
Especially after earlier.
I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened at school.
He'd pulled me into that closet, and we'd completely lost sight of what we were supposed to be doing.
I didn't want to think too much about the details.
But my body remembered the intensity of it, and every time the memory came back, my face heated.
