October 10, 1930

Jaylyn was very irritated as she climbed out of the water and changed into new clothes. Out of all the things she could've died from it was a stupid infection that had turned into a bad fever. She hated dying from getting sick. When she got back Adam made a comment, knowing it would irritate her further.

"You're getting sick a lot in these last few years." His tone was laced with light teasing.

She scowled at him. "Let's just get back to training."

Adam took out a gun and shot the target with practiced ease before moving her where he had been standing. Jaylyn took out her own weapon before muttering under her breath. "Show off."

"You'll be able to shoot just as well by the time the day's over." He assured her. "Or at least better than you could before."

"I really hope that's a compliment." She put fake warning into her voice as she aimed the gun. "Or this could go through your skull."

"Of course it will." He obviously knew she was bluffing as he continued to help her aim.

A gunshot rang out and the target receive a narrow miss to the center, Jaylyn huffed in frustration and continued trying, aware of Adam's scrutinizing gaze watching her progress. A few shots later and her gun just clicked, she still hadn't hit the dead center to her annoyance but she was sure she would've if Adam hadn't distracted her the third time. He took the gun from her as she continued to glare at the target and she felt him pulling her away, though he didn't lead her inside.

"Where are we going?" She looked back in confusion but he turned her head forward.

"Taking a break, I think the target deserves one after your performance." He continued walking on the side of the road for nearly ten minutes before stopping and looking into the forest curiously for a moment before going into the trees.

Jaylyn of course, had to follow. "You're not taking me out here to kill me are you? I already died today, I would prefer to live."

"I'm not killing you, if I wanted to I would've already." He replied as he found a small worn path and continued along it. "I'm taking you to see someone."

"Is it Jack so he can kill me?" She asked suspiciously, Adam occasionally left for a few days and never told her why; perhaps it was to plot with that psychopath.

"I hate the man just as much as you." He said and, noticing she was about to speak again, pressed a finger to her lips. "Not another word."

She went silent and he continued to guide her down the path until they reached a small set of gates, behind them rested the dead marked by fading stones. She glanced at him uncertainly but he led her among them and confidently weaved through them until he came to some in a shaded patch where he stopped and looked at her.

"This is why we're here." He told her.

Jaylyn examined the stones, finally seeing names of people she didn't know but one that was consistent: Carver. "How did you find this place?"

"Where do you think I go all the time?" He asked as he observed her. "Well, for some of the time."

"I thought you were off getting laid or killing someone... maybe doing something for work." She replied, still taking in her dead family.
