"Okay and done!" Tara said. She just finished dying my hair blonde and I was ecstatic to see it. I jumped up and looked in the mirror. Wow, I looked like me. My blonde hair was back and I couldn’t have been happier. I wanted to badly as to have my natural brown hair back but there is no way I am waiting for it to grow while my hair is black.
I could feel tears building up from my happiness. My smile couldn't be any wider, my mouth was already hurting from it. Tara hugged me tight I could tell she was feeling just as glad.
When she first came home after work she was depressed and I could tell she had been crying. I wanted to know what was wrong but I had no way of asking. I just studied her movement and watched as some tears fell every now and again.
"You know I have nothing to call you by since I don’t know your name, so I’m just going to call you Blondie, okay?" I kept my smile and nodded enthusiastically. At least out of everything that's happened I can at least say I have a friend who will stand by me. She truly seems to care about my well-being.
"I'm really glad I have a name for you now!" She laughs. God her laugh is so unbelievably addictive. I pretty much have a heart attack whenever I hear that perfect laugh. It literally sounds like the angels calling from heaven...
I still was starring into the mirror admiring my new hair. She did a fantastic job! Not a single strand of black or Brown was left undyed. I starred at my full appearance. I could see a slight sparkle in my eyes compared to yesterday's gloom. My face looked less tired and more alive, and most of all... I looked happy.
I noticed Tara in the reflection of the mirror which gave me a chance to observe her appearance in secret so I don't appear to be strange. Her eyes looked slightly sad, she starred at the ground and fiddled with her fingers which indicated she was distracted. She had been slightly quieter since she had come home from work, maybe she was just tired? She sighed heavily before coming back to reality.
"I'm getting a little hungry, you want supper now Blondie?” I nodded and she smiled. I followed her into the kitchen and took a seat at the table and watched her cook.
She pulled out some pasta and put it on a boiling pot of water. I watched her go to the cupboards and pull out a tin of spaghetti sauce and open it with her pink can opener, how cute. She finished up the pasta and sauce and placed it before me.
"Dinner is served!" I grin widely at her and began devouring my food not realizing how hungry I was until I took my first bite.
I finished every last bite and carefully carried my dishes to the sink. It's very difficult to carry dishes with on arm in a sling and the other in a cast, but I somehow managed to do so.
"I'm actually going to go to bed early, I'm not feeling so well... I can put on a movie for you and I can just shut it off before I go to school tomorrow."
I watched her struggle to keep her eyes alert. It was only seven so I wasn't tired yet so I agreed and followed her to the living room. I plopped on the couch and watched her dig through numerous films.
"I only have a few interesting ones... Um... How about Toy Story? I know its a little childish but its one of my favourites." I immediately nodded my head and she popped in the movie. "Night Blondie." She came over and gave me a hug and lightly kissed the top of my head.
I watched her walk down the hall and enter her room. She closed the door most of the way only leaving it open wide enough to let in the glow from the streets into her room.
I turned my attention back to the movie and let a few tears slide down my face. Toy story was Liams all-time favourite trilogy and it triggered an emotional string in my heart.
