The Lady of Amity

Celestial stands the duchess she,
The roaddust cannot reach her,
Stately from her balcony,
The dew and birdsong teacher.
Marble platforms carved by time,
Such abiding blinding feature,
She dries the tears from every eye,
The daisies proclaim beseech her.

Yet of her wrath none are left spared,
Her gaze is molten intention,
And wicked arms stretch out enflared,
And punish man's ruinous inventions.
It isn't hatred on her lips,
But a marvelous, impossible attention,
She scours the town for fellowship,
For those who bear her extension.

And though she presides o'er Amity,
That town of wit's declension,
She turns her visage to the East,
Blind to Death's intervention.
