"(Y/N)... What's wrong?" I hear a whisper from beside me. It was Makoto.
"Nothing! Everything is okay," I whispered back, plastering a fake smile on my face.
"Well, obviously not... Even though I haven't seen you in forever, I still know when you are troubled," he whispered with a stern look on his face.
"F-fine... But I'll tell you afterwards," I said, turning back to face the teacher. There was just the same tone in the teacher's voice. It just kept going and going, like a broken record. After what felt like hours, class ended. I walked out of class and hoped that Makoto would forget what I said.
"Okay, what's going on?" he said, placing a hand on my shoulder. He remembered.
"Um... Well... I-I just..." I stuttered, looking at the tile beneath me.
"Take your time," he smiled, leaning against the wall.
"W-well... You remember my mom?" I asked, trying to give Makoto a hint.
"Oh yeah, she seemed cool," he smiled.
"Um... Well, not really," I shrugged, laughing nervously.
"What? What's going on with your mom?" he asked, looking into my eyes with concern.
"Sh-she's been a wreck since the whole divorce thing happened with my dad... And she turned to alcohol... She comes home late every night and I basically am the mother now... I look after my little brother and I do all the work I need to," I cried, covering my face with my hands, attempting to hide my upcoming tears. Makoto just looked at me with sympathy and shock written all over his face. He slowly walked closer to me and hugged me, creating a safe 'wall' around my body.
"I-I'm sorry... You didn't have to tell me, but I'm glad you did. You are so strong," he whispered, trying to calm me down. Luckily, people were not noticing what was going on. I didn't feel like being known as the emotional girl.
"I-It's fine... I think I'll go now," I say, escaping his barrier around me.
"Well... Just so you know, we are all here for you," he smiled, meaning that my friends were there.
"Y-yeah, I know..." I sighed, walking away. I looked to the ground as I walked, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone and everyone.
The rest of the day went on like usual... Boring. I probably fell asleep in one class, I don't remember because I am way too tired.
When dismissal came around, I rushed out of school to go pick up Kaito.
"(Y/N), wait up!" I heard a voice shout behind me. I turn back to see Makoto and Haru running after me.
"Um... Hey, guys," I smiled nervously.
"I told Haru," Makoto said in one quick sentence.
"What?" my eyes met Haru's and I could see the sadness of his expression.
"I-I'm sorry but he knew something was going on with you,"
"Why would you do that, Makoto?" I asked him, distress in my voice.
"Did you not want me to know?" Haru asked.
"No, that's not it. I just hoped to tell you myself one day," I said, trying to walk away, but Haru grabbed my hand.
"I'm going to come with you," Haru said placing his back pack completely on his shoulders.
"But you don't know where I'm going..."
"So? I want to be with you," he shrugged starting to walk ahead.
"H-hey! Wait!" I say, trying to catch up. Makoto smiled to himself and slowly walked back to his home.
