*MICK'S POV**

I had to walk off from Emily. She reminded me so much of Beth. Like as if Beth were standing there right in front of me. With Beth leaving left a giant hole in me. Like a part of me was ripped away. But seeing Emily was almost looking into the past. I couldn't let Beth go. Still to this day I can't. I fought the feeling and the urge to just sit down and cry. I glanced back into the living room of Emily sitting on the couch like Beth and looking around. It was almost like I was given a second chance, but I don't know if I could go through with it all again or not. She knew about the existence of vampires and that's a danger to us all. Beth found out, but she didn't care what I was. She was put in danger because of me. I didn't want to expose myself to Emily. She's been through enough already as it is. But I felt connected to her somehow. As if we knew each other for years. She even dressed like Beth, the same perfume smell was all too familiar to me. The smell of infused jasmine tea accords with honey suckle, rose petals and pink grape fruit filled the rooms around me. That smell drew me closer to her. But the hole in my chest was suddenly bigger than before.

I sat at my desk, turning on the computer and going through the files and reports Guillermo had sent me from down at the morgue attached to an email saying:

"Mick, I didn't want to bring up about Beth, but there was a woman who came in looking like her doppelgänger. It was like looking into a fun house mirror. Kinda freaky. She was looking at some files and reports Marcum had and they were discussing it through. Then she left after she got what she needed. I don't know where she could have gone too, but she might pay you a visit sooner than later. -G"

It was too late for the email. I wonder how she found me? I wanted to ask her, but I wanted to look into these reports as well to prevent that man she mentioned about coming after her. I wasn't going to allow that to happen. I wanted to call Josef about the incident, but he would tell me to take care of it as usual and I would, after I found out who it was. I needed to ask her some questions about the man. There was also something else different about her. She looked like she hadn't had any sleep in a while. Like something was keeping her up.

I kept my computer on the screen and headed back into the living room where Beth's twin Emily sat. I sat back down in the leather chair out from her and her eyes were focused on mine. I began to ask questions.

"Is there anything you can tell me specific about this man trying to kill you?"

She nodded.

"He was tall, masculine and he was dressed like some sort of lawyer or doctor. His hair was blondish brown and he had sort facial hair. He had blood on his neck that soaked his white shirt and tie. He was maybe 8 or 9 inches taller than me. That's all I know. I hope it was helpful."

She said, looking at the windows then back at me.

"Yes, it was. It was enough to help me identify the man. Emily, have you see him before? Anywhere in LA?"

She paused a beat and that a plundering look on her face.

"I think I have. I'm not for sure."

"Where?"

"Either a law firm, a doctors office or the hospital. He knocks out the car dealers around here and local store owner and any CEO's of major companies. I wish I had more information to give you, but that's all I know."

"That's all I need. Thank you. Look, if you need a place to stay for a couple of days, you're more than welcome to stay here. If you need to some things from your house, I'll drive you there then when you're getting your things together, I'd like to pay a visit to Michelle's house myself. A friend of mine sent me some files, containing the two women's addresses and their whole life's history. Maybe there are some hidden clues that he left in the house when he disappeared, but it you don't want to go back there, I understand."

She looked at me and slightly nodded.

"I live just down the street from you actually. Maybe 7 houses down from this complex apartments."

I was surprised. She lived near me just like Beth did. But Beth was closer. She was on the second floor on the east wing. I was on the west wing.

"Okay. Well, whatever you want to do I'm fine with it."

"Okay, I just have to pick up a few things from my house and tell my brother Jared what I'm going to be doing, so he can tell our cousin what's going on."

"Alright. It's a short walk from here to yours isn't it?"

"Yeah."

"Well, we'll walk together all right?"

She nodded and she had a trusting and calm look on her face. She got up and we both headed towards the door. We went out the steel grey door, down the hallway to elevator where she got on first and I followed. I pressed the button for the first floor. She leaned up against the railings and had both of her hands around the bar, looking down at her feet. The door shut and the elevator started to descend downward to the lobby. Her perfume was a delight to me. It masked the usual smell of years old elevators. It stopped and dinged then the door opened. She went out and I followed, waving at the clerk behind the front desk. We headed toward the glass revolving doors and I put on my sunglasses and held the door for her. The air was a bit chilly, but for me, it felt great. The sun poked out from behind the clouds, casting out shadows in front of us. I put up my hand to block the sunlight from hitting my eyes.

Our walk was quiet and we passed many people on the sidewalks. People going to and coming from work. It was 10:30 am. People in different types of vehicles passed us on the road and before we knew it, she was leading me down her driveway to her two story house. I liked the way it looked. Like a Victorian home and giant french style chandeliers on the porch that surrounded the entire house on the bottom. The balcony was a view. Double sliding doors up top and french style fleur de lis railings popped out. She turned to me. And pointed to the house across the street.

"There's Michelle's. Looks like some CSI's is already investigating it."

"Yeah, but most likely, I'll find evidence and clues they over look. I'll see you back here in a few minutes."

"Okay."

We departed. She went into her house and I jogged across the street. Flashes of lights came from the living room. People were going in and coming out with bags of evidence. I met the main guy over the unit. I pulled out my wallet containing my credentials.

"Mick St. John. I'm a private investigator."

I said holding up my credentials to the guy.

"St. John? Well, you were just in time for a surprise."

"Why's that?"

"We found another body last night in the same house and the same marks, but more violent."

"What do you mean?"

I asked as we both walked in the house together. I entered and room of my sunglasses and put them away. Blood was spattered every where. Trails leading up to stairs and into the kitchen like someone had took paint and went across the floor with a paintbrush.

"A young woman by the name of Tara Hilton, kin to Michelle was found with her throat ripped wide open. She was found in the bedroom upstairs. And get this..."

He led me to the hallway where CSI's took taking samples and pictures of the message written in blood. It said:

"Beware to all those who seeks this message. Take it as my last warning: there will be much bloodshed. One remains in my sight. None shall tell. None shall hear. None shall find. This is not the end, but the beginning to something anew."

He pointed out then turning to face me.

"Do you know what any of this means?"

I already knew what it meant. I had to tell him differently though.

"No. None of this makes sense to me."

But really it did. I didn't want them to find out, because I was already on this case. I didn't need them to find out about Emily either. Now, she is in peril.
