I heard distinct talking, but I couldn't make out who it was or where it was at. My lungs burned and my head ached as if someone was putting pressure on my skull. I moved my hand across a sheet of some sort. Forcing my eyes opened, I caught a glimpse of what looked like a hospital room. The IVs made me chill all over. I heard the heart rate monitors beeping and the TV on low volume. My head was too heavy for me to lift it at the moment, but I continued moving my hand across the bed until I felt my hand in someone's else's hand. I glanced over and it was Mick. He was leaned back into a chair with his eyes closed. Then, a woman with dark short hair gets up and walks out the room without even turning to look at me. With her sudden moves it woke Mick up, making him turn to me and his facial expression was shocked and surprised and glad.

He smiled.

"You're finally awake, I see. How are you feeling?"

I hesitated to speak. It felt as if I didn't know how to speak. My eyes moved from his face and focused back on the woman who walked back into the room with three cans of pop. She sat the two cans on the table beside my bed and opened hers. The sudden click and pop hurt my ears. My eyes trailed back to Mick's face who was still waiting on an answer.

"Who is she?"

I managed to get out.

Mick turned and looked at her.

"That is Morgan Vincent. She was a blood donor to you. She has the same blood type. When you came in the hospital, you lost a lot of blood and no one in this hospital besides Morgan, had the same blood type to compare yours with. Luckily, she was here when she was."

He turned back and looked at me. She walks over and pulls the chair right next to Mick.

"Yeah, but I'm glad you're okay, now. You've been out for quite sometime actually. A couple of days. I brought you a Sprite if you want to drink it. If you don't want it I can go get you a water."

Morgan said, opening my pop and handing it to Mick. He stuck a straw in it and I sat up in the bed and took the offer. It was cold like 45 degrees cold and the condensation on the outside of the can brought a sensation to my hand. I took a sip and started drinking. My throat was like cotton. Dry and scratchy.

Mick began to give me a straight, questioning look.

"The other day when you left my apartment and you said you were going to go to the coroners office to pick up some files and it was a while and you weren't back. Then when I realized when I came from the lobby, I saw your car unattended and the door was open with a window busted I just knew that something had happened. That gang has been causing trouble for LA for quite some time."

"Why aren't the cops doing something about it? I could have died."

"You almost did. If I wouldn't have found you in time, you would have been."

"How did you find me?"

"Your phone has a tracking chip in it. I was able to track it down to one of the warehouses. I had a little help from Lieutenant Carl Davis from LAPD."

"I guess from now on, you won't let me out of your sight. I'm accident prone."

Mick and Morgan just laughed.

"Yeah, you got that right. After what happened to you, it looks like you need someone around you around the clock protection and surveillance."

Mick smiled at me.

"Do I need to be handcuffed or tied to you then?"

I smiled back and joked.

He smirked at me.
