*MICK'S POV**

I ran to Emily as fast as I could. Her heartbeat was fading and fast. She lost too much blood and she was dying and I needed to do something to save her. My hand touched her face and it was cold. Her eyes was shut and her breathing was shallow. I grabbed the shackles and broke them free from her wrists and ankles and picked her up as gently and quickly as I could.

"Emily, if you can hear me, hang on all right? I'm gonna getcha out of here. Just please, hang in there a bit longer."

I ran through the complex with my vamp speed. All of the guys were taken care of. I made it out of the steel garage door and ran to my car. Laying the seat back just enough, I placed Emily in it and fastened the seat belt and slid across the hood of the car and got in. Quickly putting the car in gear, I floored the gas pedal and peeled out. I didn't have time to call the hospital I didn't have time to do anything, but watch my driving and keep Emily alive until I get to the hospital. I had one last resort left and every thought pounded against my skull of that. Turning her. I didn't want to and I don't want to, but it would be necessary to save her life, but I'm hoping I'll get her to the hospital in time for the doctors to save her.

I sped down streets and highways as fast as my Mercedes could go. She was getting weaker and I was running out of time, but just lucky enough I slid into the hospital parking lot in front of the emergency building. I swung my door open and sprinted to Emily and pulled her from the car and started running towards the sliding doors inside.

"I NEED A STRETCHER AND DOCTORS, PLEASE! THIS WOMAN IS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND IS IN NEED OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE NOW!"

I yelled to everyone in the lobby. In seconds, doctors came running in different directions with a stretcher. I put her on the stretcher and they went straight into the ER with her. I watched as the double doors shut behind the doctors and Emily. I didn't want to go back, but I followed them. When I got to the ER, they closed the curtains and told me to wait in the lobby for the doctors.

I paced frantically in the waiting room. It had been two hours since they took Emily straight to the ER and no one has come out with any news at all. I tried to listen in, but there was too much interference. I just sat down in one of the chairs and put my elbows on my knees and buried my face into my hands. I felt tears coming from my eyes, making my hands cold and wet. I wiped them away when I heard one of the doctors.

"Mr. St. John?"

I looked up with fear in my eyes.

"Yes?"

"She's going to be fine. She's stable. We had to do a couple of blood transfusions for her blood type because it was rare."

"How rare?"

"Well, her blood type is AO-. Only one in a million people would have this blood type. Luckily, we found someone that matched her type."

"Where is she?"

"Both are in ICU. You can come back and see her now."

That was some relief off my chest, but for the mystery person to have the same blood type as Emily surprised me. The doctor motioned me to follow her to the ICU room. Before I got to the room, there was a familiar scent that filled my nose. The only one that could have the same blood type as Emily is Beth, but when I walked in the room, it was someone worse.

"Hi."

"Coraline?"

The doctors left us in the room with Emily.

"No. Morgan Vincent."

"Mick St. John."

Morgan and I shook hands. I still couldn't get over of the woman who looked like my ex-wife. She sounds like her, moves like her, even smells like her.

"I'm sorry. You look like someone I used to know."

"Ex girlfriend maybe?"

"No. Ex-wife."

"You know, it's not a big turn-on when you tell someone they look like your ex."

"This isn't a pickup line, you look just like her."

There was a slight pause between our conversation.

"So, can you tell me why you're here?"

"I was getting some blood work done as usually then a doctor came into the room where they took my blood and asked if I would give blood to a woman who has the same blood type as me because she was in critical condition. I didn't hesitate to do it. It's weird to find someone, or meet them actually that has the same blood type as you, huh?"

I glanced over at Emily then back at Morgan.

"Yeah."

"Who is she?"

"She's a friend that I saved twice now. Her name is Emily Turner."

"She's pretty. What happened?"

"She was kidnapped by a local gang and they tortured her. She was dying and I just came to her rescue just in time. If I hadn't, she would have been dead."

"I overheard the doctors saying there might be a slight chance that she could go into a coma for a while, but the other one wasn't for sure. Just a slight chance they said. Then the other said she might pull through it without a problem. It's a 50/50 chance. I know I shouldn't be the one to tell you this, but I think that the doctors was going to wait to tell you all the news."

I pulled up a chair and sat beside Emily's bedside and took her hand in mine and held it. Morgan pulled another chair beside me, turning it to where we could finish talking face to face.

"Are you sure she's a friend? Because it looks like to me that you two were together."

"We're not."

"Are you two going to get together? I mean do you have feelings for her that way?"

"Yeah. I mean, the first time she came to me, she was scared about this guy trying to kill her, so I told her that she could stay with me for a while. Her house is right down the street from mine. She would have sudden collapses out of nowhere and I thought that if someone besides her brother wasn't there with her all the time to watch and make sure that anything else didn't happen to her she would get seriously injured. So I've been watching over her. I've drawn closer to her. She has to I know it. But, I don't know."

"She's waiting on you to make the first move, you know. Look, I'm trying to help you two because it seems that you two would be perfect together. I'm just telling my opinion if that's okay with you."

I nodded.

With Emily being around, I don't have to worry about this hole in my chest getting bigger, or staying. It's slowly closing up with her around, but the thoughts of Beth still haunt me. I want to be with Emily, but I don't know if I could go through it all again. It's the pain from Beth blaming me and hating me for not saving Josh and letting him die. Then telling me that she thinks that she couldn't do it anymore because she wasn't ready to join my world and I couldn't rejoin hers. It wasn't about me turning her, it was how we felt about each other, but it seems that's I guess it wasn't meant for me and Beth.

Emily's life is on the line. It has been from the beginning. Now, I'm going to try to protect her with my life.
