We left the hospital and headed to Mick's. After a few minutes we were at his place in no time. He swings his door open and hops out then trots to my side of the car. Opening the door, I grabbed his shoulder and pulled myself out of the car and used him as an anchor. I inhaled some fresh air and caught a whiff of the salt from the ocean. I hated being in the hospital and wanted to be out. I got light-headed for a brief second.
"Are you alright?"
Mick says with one brow raised.
"I just got a bit light-headed."
I held onto him with both hands, trying to regain my balance and focus my vision. I shook off the feeling and looked around once more.
"Come on. Let's get you inside."
Mick proceeded towards the double doors as I continued to hold on. It felt like I forgot how to walk and I'm starting over again. As we walked in the lobby, there was a group of men in suits standing around in a circle observing me and Mick as we walked to the elevator.
"Do you know any of those men?"
I asked.
"I don't think so. I've never seen them before. Must be contractors of a well-recognized company."
"Maybe."
The door closed on the elevator and I started to get a bit drowsy. I yawned.
"Tired?"
I just shook my head.
Mick chuckled and smiled.
"All right."
With a swift force, I was swept off my feet into Mick's arms again. I put my hand on his left shoulder and my head on his right and closed my eyes. I was in my angels arms again. No matter where I went, as long as he's with me, I'll always feel safe. I heard a beep then the door swing open and I know we where in his apartment.
"I'll lay you on the couch and grab you some more blankets and pillows. I've got a few errands to run and pick up a few things. You want anything while I'm out?"
"No, I'm good."
"You sure?"
I nodded.
"All right then. If you need me, call, okay?"
I nodded again.
"I'm locking the door and taking the key with me, so you'll be safe in here. Steel door, double dead-bolts. It's the same with my office door. Make yourself at home."
I seen him smile.
"I will. Be careful, please."
"Always am."
He smiled again as he walked out the door. I just laid on the couch and covered up then dozed off to sleep. I felt like I was being lifted up and put back down on something warm. Where my head lay, I heard a heartbeat. A steady, strong heartbeat. I felt a chin and a cheek on the top of my head. I felt a hand on my lower back and it moved upward, between my shoulders then back down again. I moved my hand and it was on a shoulder. Slowly opening my eyes, I awoke to see that I was laying on Mick on the couch covered up. His left hand behind his head and his right arm on my waist. His head was tilted toward the right to the backside of the couch. I felt content. I don't know how long I was asleep, but judging the way Mick was positioned, I'm guessing a while. I moved my hand toward his face and brushed the side of his cheek with the backside of my hand, feeling the little short stubs of his beard barely there and a smile appeared across his face. I then moved my hand down from his cheek to his neck then to his shoulder again. My hand moved back up to his curly hair. My fingers brushed his hair backwards then to the side. My eyes kept locked on his to see if he was going to open them. I cracked a smirk, as his smile widened. He inhaled deeply and his eyes opened.
