*Holy crack addict this is chapter 18!*

“Wait Neil, as in baby-brother-too-cute-for-words, Neil?” Dakota asked.

I nodded solemnly.

“Baby brother? Hayden I thought all your family was dead,” Wade said confused.

“Yeah, so did I,” I mumbled.

“Oh, Hayden,” Karma sighed sadly, as she started to rub my back.

I shrugged lightly, rubbing my hand across my face.

“How is this possible?” Wade questioned.

“Was he, I mean was he a vampire?” Dakota asked.

“No, he was at least ten maybe eleven, but,” I stopped taking a deep breath.

“What?” Nero questioned.

“It’s like he didn’t even know me or something. Like he was aware I was Hayden but didn’t know our past. I mean, he stabbed me, my baby brother stabbed me in the stomach and didn’t even think twice about doing it!” I exclaimed. “How is this possible?” I repeated a couple times.

“Some vampires, the older ones,” Nero started.

“Much older than me or Nero,” Wade added.

“Have the power of hypnotism. It’s not usually for long hypnotism, just long enough to play with their food before they eat it,” Nero explained.

“Snake, the guy you two were talking about, would he be old enough to have that power?” I asked him.

“He’s definitely old enough, but it doesn’t make sense,” he stated.

“Why doesn’t it make sense? He took my brother, he turned him into a killer, and he’s obviously the one leading their little operation. It makes perfect sense to me,” I argued.

“Why would he take him Hayden?” he questioned.

“Because what kind of person could kill their own brother?” I demanded. “He’s messing with me,” I mumbled.

“Hayden?” Karma started, looking worried.

“Please, guys just don’t. I-I need to rest and be alone. Just please leave,” I whispered.

“No Hayden, we’re not leaving you alone,” Karma said firmly.

“Karma please just, leave I’m still healing and I just want to sleep. Please,” I begged softly.

“If you need anything you call one of us,” she sighed after a moment’s consideration.

“Of course,” I nodded.

“Let’s go guys,” she sighed again, standing up.

“Rest,” Brice stated leaning down and kissing my forehead.

I nodded again.

“Bye Hayden,” Dakota and Gemma said softly, heading for the door with the rest of them.

“Bye,” I replied softly.

“Hayden,” Wade nodded as he stepped out of the room last and closed the door.

“Hayden,” Nero whispered after a couple moments of silence. “Are you okay?” Nero asked.

“Just peachy, why wouldn’t I be?” I questioned shakily, pulling the ends of my hair.

“Hayden,” he said in a soft voice.

“NO! Don’t say my name like that. I don’t, don’t want your pity, Nero!” I snapped, glaring up at him.
