"Let's just skip." He repeats.

.

.

I stare at my best friend in awe. At least, I think he's my best friend. The Chester I know would never even think about skipping school, especially on the second day. But then again, for some reason, Chester seems to keep surprising me more and more lately.

I take a moment to look down at what I'm wearing.

It's way too hot to go to school dressed like this.

I take a moment to jiggle the door handle once more.

Just like before, it's sealed shut with no way to open it other than a key that we don't have.

I take a moment to smirk back at this new Chester who is now propping his elbows on my knees with his chin placed in his hands, chuckling quietly at my suspense.

Well, since I have no other choice.

"Let's do it." I laugh.

"Woah what? You're saying yes to skipping school?"

"And you're bringing up the idea of skipping school." I remind him.

"To-shay." He agrees.

"Everyone at my house should be gone by now, so let's just hang out there for the day, yeah?" Chester suggest.

I nod along to his plan reluctantly. I have a bad feeling this idea is not a good one, but I push it to the back of my mind and follow Chester across the street anyways.

Once we unlock Chester's front door and go inside, I head straight for the kitchen, realizing I haven't even had breakfast.

I smile broadly once I see cooked waffles on a plate beside the stove. That's one thing I love about Chester's family, they're always cooking.

Chester laughs as I take a giant bite out of the golden circle.

"Hungry?" He's asks with a laugh.

"Mm-hmm." I mumble threw a mouth full of food.

Just then, a thought comes across my mind.

"Do you have a piece of paper and a pen?" I smile at Chester.

He gives me a questioning look.

Oh my gosh. I never told him about the letters.

"I never told you about the letters!" I say aloud.

"What letters?" Chester asks as he sits down on the barstool next to me.

"Me and Aprils. We have to send letters now."

"Why?" He says as he shakes his head and fixes his hair to the side.

I explain how the phone line cost way to much, and how there is no other way . I go on to tell him about my letter and her letter back. Of course, I leave out the part about April's letter making me feel worse then I already was.

"So I'm going to write another letter to her." I conclude.

He nods his head slowly before getting up and leaving the room. A few minutes later he returns with a green sheet of paper, plain envelope, and red pen.

He clicks the pen repeatedly as he sits down the supplies in front of me and finally hands me then pen.

I take one last bite of my waffle and brush my hands across my sweats.

I grab the pen, and began to write.

Dear April,

Chester and I are skipping school today, the second day of school to be precise. And you want to know the crazy part?
