Where We Used to Run

You were the place where safety found me,
And maybe I was that for you.
When we were drowning in reality
You made our fantasies seem true.

So that's where we would run.
I'd run to you and open my mind.
Together worries didn't exist
We were part of our own kind.

There we could run and scream.
There we didn't need to care.
It was there that everything made sense,
Answers flew like wind blowing hair.

But the sun doesn't last forever,
Eventually summer turns cold.
But losing this place hurt more than anything,
It was worth more than precious gold.

I'm sure the walls still stand,
But the magic no longer lives.
Without it the place is empty
There's nothing that it gives.

I don't go back there anymore,
I'm afraid of what it's become,
But maybe someday we'll find our way back to where we used to run.
