The Shore

The waves crash in harmonic rhythm,
Creating the most innocent song.
Yet the only sound I want to hear is your voice,
Even though it's been silent so long.

The day is ending in majesty,
The sun is burning up the sky,
But all the beauty does is remind me of endings,
And the day I said goodbye.

The sand is rough against my skin,
It reminds me of being worn down.
It reminds me of the inevitable snap I pretended wasn't coming,
It moulds my face into a frown.

The peace that envelopes me is intrusive,
It reminds me what's really true;
I can travel to every end of the earth
But I simply can't forget you.
