I woke up with a sudden jolt. I sat up quickly as if I just had nightmare. "Hey," the beautiful boy spoke softly to me and tried to slow me down. He had his hand against the small of my back in case I fell backwards.I noticed that his hand was cold against the skin on my back. It was really hot from the blankets. That was uncomfortable. I didn't know where I was so I just looked around in my new surroundings. "Do you remember anything, beautiful?" He showed me an alluring smile. Beautiful? He was calling me beautiful? Does he not look in the mirror? Yeesh!"What happened?" I murmured groggily to him. Ahhhhh, the joy of my incredibly stupid, never-ending questions. I felt normal and refreshed so that was good. "I'm sorry," he started. Why do all vampires keep apologizing to me again? "You're a vampire now," he continued. He held my hand and squeezed it gently. "This isn't real," I muttered to myself. "It's actually true, you're a real vampire now. This is real life," he murmured into my ear. "Do you feel thirsty? You woke up a lot earlier than Anthony thought you would by the way." Thirsty? I guess I did need a little water.... "Shall we go hunting now? Or do you want to wait a little while." Hunting? For humans? "Hunting?" I asked. "You need blood to have energy in this life," he replied gently and patiently.
I wasn't moving because I didn't want to hurt any humans. He must have thought he made things awkward with me because he quickly dropped both of his hands and stood up. No, I wanted to tell him. His cold touch was gone. His sudden movement had me confused and I automatically acted without thought. "Where are you going?" I asked. "Nowhere. Not yet. Do you want to stay here for a little while longer? I could stay with you for a while," he offered; still being careful and quiet. I knew he was going to make this awkward soon so I decided to start moving around. I leaped up, out of the bed but it was so fast that I didn't realize I had vampire speed yet. "Easy," he murmured into my ear and wrapped his hands around me protectively.
I was parched. My throat felt dry. "Do you have water?" I asked him tentatively. "For what?" He was confused by my question. "For drinking?" I asked questioned him slowly. Did they not get thirsty when they first wake up? "Vampires don't..." He trailed off. "What are you talking about?" He hesitated before answering my question. "Usually, we feel hungry when we're new," he answered. He trailed off again, but his smile was different. I peered at him curiously.
"What?" He asked, sounding self-conscious. "Nothing." What could I tell him? How could I tell him that I thought he was beautiful. His features were to the absolute perfection. If only I had the courage to say that. Hah! "Where are we?" I asked. "We're at my house," he chuckled. He took my hand and gave me a tour of the house. There was a nice kitchen that wasn't even used, a large living room, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a very large backyard filled with plants. And other stuff, but that doesn't matter right now.
He went to go talk to Anthony and told me to settle in. My throat was very dry so I decided to get some water anyway. It seemed to go down just like normal. I wondered when I was going to feel the hunger. I washed the cup and put it back where I found it. Then I realized I was missing something, my bag. Where was it? I don't exactly remember which room it was in so I decided to ask Lucas later. I looked outside and the sun was out shining bright as always in Los Angeles. As soon as I sat down on the couch, he reappeared but there was no sign Anthony following him.
He smirked when he saw me sitting on the black, leather sofa. "What? Are you afraid to stand or something?" I smiled and he returned it. "Which room is mine again?" I asked. "The one next to mine," he answered. "That's helpful." He laughed and walked into the hallway. I stood up and followed him. I forgot about my vampire speed and crashed right into him. "Sorry," I apologized, but I was laughing anyways. "No worries," he smiled. "Anthony's not here right now, he had to go run some errands." "Errands?" "Well, he actually has to go to work." "Your dad works here in LA?" "Yes, he is a doctor and my mother is a nurse."
