Stella sniffed the air, "I don't recognize the scent... But it's definitely strong."
"It's a family," Victor replied. "The Lovettes, " he concluded after a beat.
Stella visibly tensed. Victor's grip tightened around my wrist even more. It kind of hurt. I winced and he apologized; releasing me just ever so slightly and then squeezing slightly tightened more. Oh, no. Not this again. I winced once again.
"Let her go!" I heard someone shout in the woods.
"We shall not surrender to you, Anthony!" Stella sneered. Out of nowhere, well, he was probably hiding, but who cares about that anyways?
A tall golden, blonde haired figure with light blue eyes came out. He looked at me with pity. Then, another figure, with brown hair and beautiful emerald green eyes came out to stand just one step behind his right side. They looked about the same height.
The beautiful, younger-looking one, saw Victor's hand around my wrist and glared at it with fierce hatred in his eyes; more intense than Stella's... I didn't know that was possible. I was frantic again. I looked at Victor and he had a mocking smile on his face. The beautiful boy shot daggers and if looks could kill, the immortal gripping my numb wrist would collapse and perish into the soil beneath us. He still looked beyond beautiful, even when he scowled at Victor whom I thought was going to protect me. Please no. I wasn't sure who to believe, but I hoped I wouldn't have to live with Stella for the rest of my existence. Oh the horror!
The tall blonde one, who still looked quite young, seemed to be the leader of the two, though I was quite sure there were more. If there were only two, the fight would be even. Victor and Stella would have nothing to be afraid of. "Long time no see, Anthony," Victor called out in mock cheer. Stella looked furiously at the two beautiful figures about twenty feet away from us. "Hand over the girl," the one who was named Anthony said cautiously. He took a hesitant step forward. "I don't think so," Stella jeered. The mysterious, beautiful one growled and dashed towards us until he was about five feet away. I couldn't move; his stare melted me.
He looked at me curiously and I did the same. "Son," Anthony called out. Son? They looked about 5 years apart. I thought they were siblings or something. Anthony flew to where his beautiful son stood; a mere five feet away. The beautiful one, whom I was still curious of his name seemed to have trouble concentrating. He was holding his breath. Well, duhhh... They were vampires, my blood was what they were attracted to. The beautiful one didn't want to kill me, I think. The blonde one, Anthony seemed quite nice. I knew for sure Stella wanted me to be immortal. Did they need someone to fight alongside with them? I wasn't sure.
"Let. Her. Go!" The beautiful one growled. His bright green eyes were piercing but I wasn't frightened. I couldn't be if I wanted to live. My blood would have him coming after me for sure. I was tired of Victor's cold fingers around me and tried to pry his fingers away from me. He looked down and spoke quietly. "I promise," he whispered.
The one with the beautiful green eyes growled even louder. His eyes filled with rage and jealousy. His father rushed forward and put a restraining palm on his chest to keep him from attacking. Did they want to drink my blood that badly?Geez, there other humans around.... I shuddered. No. I couldn't let them hurt anymore people. I hoped they'd be satisfied with just me. Eww...
Victor nudged Stella gently and she nodded. Together, along with me, they flew backwards about ten feet away from the newcomers. It was so fast that all I saw was a blur. The boy looked even more furious than before. His father whispered something to him that was incoherent for my human ears.
"Hand the girl over, and we will let you two go in peace," Anthony called out. "Not a chance!" Stella shouted out angrily. "We won't allow you to kill her!" Victor snapped. "And you think we would let you do the same? Let her go!" The beautiful creature bellowed. I wish I knew his name. I couldn't quite speak yet. I was too stunned. By both the realization of immortals and his stunning appearance. I wasn't sure who to trust or what to do. "Let the human girl go," Anthony called out once again. "You might as well give up because we won't let you snack on her," Stella chirped. As if on cue, they moved back about another twenty feet. I looked at my left hand again, his grip on my right wrist tightened. My hand wasn't bleeding anymore but I feared something else. Something that was coming.
