We ran out the back but we didn't know that was a mistake to make. The door was locked and we couldn't we were confused. The back door was never locked until 10 pm. It was only 7:30. I heard more shrieks and tried to pry the door open. It was hopeless. Then, the fire alarm roared and the sirens burst to life and the sound was deafening. Carter stopped me from opening the door and pointed behind us where flames were nearby. We dashed up the flight of stairs and I knew someone was following us. I could only hope that it was a member of the cast and crew, but I was wrong. The mysterious creature was so fast it was a blur. It almost looked like nothing. I heard the frightening laugh of him. Yes, I was pretty sure it was male. I didn't know what it was, but I had my suspicions.
The creature flew up the stairs and I knew there was no point in running. I could already tell it... er, he had the power to kill us both. He ripped apart the railings of the stairway. I knew it, I already knew this. He was the one following us the whole time. He was the one following me. What pity that I brought such a curse with everyone upon me. All the people here would have been just fine if it hadn't been for me. Or was he after Carter? Nope! It was after me. It had to.
He lunged towards Carter first. Lifted him with one hand, and flung him into the wall. "Carter!!!" I shrieked. My voice rose 3 octaves in fright. The creature flew towards me. Carter got back up to his feet. He growled as he tried to make his way back to me. It was too late though. I had to get him out of here. The fire was already spreading into this room. The creature flung Carter out the open window. My heart ripped into pieces. My Carter was hurting. At least wouldn't have to get hurt anymore as long as he stayed there. The creature grabbed me by the arm and carried me on his back. He used one hand to hold both of mine and the other to open the doors. As soon as we got out, he closed the doors again. I knew I should be afraid, but oddly enough, I wasn't.
"Who are you?" I asked him. Well that was a stupid question. I bet he gets them all the time. I tried to keep my voice steady. "My name is Victor," he replied in a soft voice. "Do not be afraid," he continued and he let go of my hands. "Hello, Victor," I spoke. He chuckled quietly. How was that funny? I lunged towards him, but of course, he was too quick for me. He grabbed me by the arm and sent me flying into the woods. The middle of the forest was pitch black and I couldn't see anything. My heart sped up. "Don't worry. There's nothing to be afraid of," he whispered. "I'm doing you a kindness, a favor. You will thank me later." Like that was possible. I thought to myself. He kept assuring me that I would be all right. I was just so confused.
But I knew I didn't want this. I didn't want to die. I wasn't sure how anybody would feel about that. Would they be happy? Mad? Sad? Still hoping I'd be alive? So many things I didn't know. But I was about to find out. I knew for sure that my sister Lucy would be upset. She was 26 but she was still one of my best friends. So I made one of the most stupidest decisions ever. I decided to fight a vampire. I think I did pretty well though.
We wrestled back and forth but I don't think he was trying because every time, I tried to run out the forest, he'd slam me backwards. I crashed into many trees. He carefully flung me around the whole forest. We reached a spot where the sunlight shone dimly. He never tried to purposely hurt me though. That was astounding. He wasn't trying to rob me, my bag was still by my side. I couldn't figure out what he wanted to do with me. Surely, if he wanted to kill me, I'd already be dead. What was he talking about when he said he was doing me a favor? Or was it a kindness? I guess I hit my head pretty hard.
"What exactly do you want?" I asked. "You," he answered simply. He made an effort to smile. "What do you want from me?" I asked tentatively. "Your life. I need you to follow me back somewhere. Your family is waiting for you," he whispered from somewhere in the shadows. I looked up into the sky. It was getting darker. My heart accelerated and I feared that he was tempted to kill me now. He did say he wanted my life didn't he? He was suddenly by my side, but he was still in the shadows. "Calm down," he whispered soothingly. He didn't look at me. His face was pale and he refused any physical contact with my skin. I saw he covered most of his skin with clothing. He was wearing black gloves on his hands.
Good, I thought, I don't want to touch this creep. He smiled again but kept it small. He waited til my heartbeat slowed down again. Then, he spoke in a soothing voice, "The pain won't last long my dear. I promise to make it as quick as possible." I gasped as he smiled widely and exposed his fangs. He looked down towards the grass. I was confused again. I thought he looked ashamed. He gradually looked up and stared at me. "I'll make it quick," he promised. "What are you talking about?" I asked him slowly and quietly. I knew what he was talking about, but I was trying to see how long I could derail his plans. "I can't just snap her neck..." He mumbled to himself. He cleared his throat and his face turned cold. I felt a stab of pain through my left hand. I lifted it and it was bleeding. I panicked. It was blood. And a vampire was standing way too close to me.
